Can't Find an E8400? Pick the Xeon E3110 Instead!

From our front-page news:I've posted a few times this week regarding stock of 45nm Xeon Quad-Cores that are becoming available all over the place, but now it's time to focus on the Dual-Cores, since there are many people who are looking for them, but are out of luck. It's hard to believe, but...

Where In Quad's Name Are They?

Haha. Knowing your wife, she'd probably quicker just kick your ass in Counter-Strike: Source before she ever made you sleep on the couch for misbehaving. Which is still the coolest thing ever.

If more women were like this, it'd be a lot easier to pick up. Not too many girls I meet are impressed with a great CPU overclock or the fact that I have a high-level character in an MMO.

Do all 780i chipsets get THIS hot?

Thanks for that link Kougar... I might have to check that on the new board I have here. I am not sure what happened to the kit of RAM, but it's the same DDR2 kit I've been using for a while. All I know now is... one stick is dead. As for XFX... they do have a great warranty, but I agree with...

Intel X48 Motherboards to Show Up This Week

I find it interesting that the kit there runs at DDR3-1375 with CL5... but requires tRC of 7. With DDR2... I found the CAS latency to be far more finicky than the tRC. I am impressed that CL5 kits are available regardless though... I am really out of the loop. I should get a bunch of these kits...

New modder competition site, from MaximumPC

Have a great day T-D... and make sure you take a break for once. Sitting back and having a few cold brews wouldn't hurt either ;-)

    Missouri Floods.

Damn man... that is quite the situation. I hope your cupboards are full with enough groceries to last you a while.

Picking out a 30-inch monitor is truly a chore!

I don't even know how to respond to a post like this... I do recommend learning more about monitors before recommending one, however. That Apple 30" is lackluster at best. It was released three years ago, and its specifications prove it. It might have been the best gaming monitor then, but it's...

    Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 3.0GHz - Wolfdale Arrives

Haha... NCIX has E3110s IN STOCK. It's the E8400 equivalent, and it is $250 even: http://ncix.com/products/index.php?sku=28910&vpn=BX80570E3110&manufacture=Intel Edit: Err... the US version is selling it for $206! http://www.ncixus.com/products/28910/BX80570E3110/Intel/

Intel Details Nehalem, Dunnington, Tukwila & Larrabee

Yes, AMD's socket jump was kind of ridiculous. To be honest, I didn't really get into hardware until I began the site (I've always been more of a software guy), so I skipped over the 754 era entirely. I went from Socket A straight to Socket 939, so I'm kind of a poser if I voice opinions on...

    PS3 Versus Xbox 360

This is a topic that will be debated forever... regardless of what console generation we are in. Gaming is no different than any other markets. I like BMW's, some people dislike them. I dislike Volkswagen, other people love them. In the end, it all depends on what you are looking for. Each...

Windows Vista SP1 Ships Next Week

There's a lot of talk of others around the web having issues, but every installation went fine for me. I still haven't seen real performance increases, but the OS is sure not acting worse.

NVIDIA 9800GTX and GX2 Get Greenlight

An average of 20FPS is good... but 25FPS is better if possible. I benchmark the game using "Medium" rather than High, since most of the lower-end "mid-range" cards are hellish on the High setting.

ATI cuts prices on the 3850 and 3870

I doubt it's a rumor... AMD needs to do this. Their HD 3850 performs worse than the 9600 GT, yet costs more. That doesn't make an ounce of sense.

Picking out a 30-inch monitor is truly a chore!

I have more than one computer (I guess this is obvious), and have been meaning to upgrade two different displays forever, so I figured that I might as well get it all taken care of all at once. I have been using a 20" on my main work machine for a while, but needed the upgrade, so that's where...

    Benchmarking High Scores

Don't worry about the cheaters... they only do it to make themselves feel better since they've never had sex with a woman. That's my theory, anyway.

Do all 780i chipsets get THIS hot?

I am going to assume for now that something was wrong with that particular board, because I ran into other problems that forced me to take the board back out and forget about it. I'll install another tomorrow or this weekend and see if it exhibits the same problems.

First pictures of Intel's Bloomfield motherboard

Nice find! I'll post this in the mornings news. I think it's difficult to judge things on such an early sample, but things look good so far. I -really- hate the fact that the board uses a 4-Pin Molex connector though... such a major pain in the ass. Not to mention the location of the EPS12+ is...
