    PS3 Versus Xbox 360

Yes! I never got into Goldeneye, but I clocked many hours into Perfect Dark. It was a masterpiece of a game IMO.

Intel Details Nehalem, Dunnington, Tukwila & Larrabee

You said it. It takes a fair amount of effort to re-write applications to support multi-threading. That... and the fact of the matter is, we could have have applications that COULD use 100 cores, but it would then be the rest of our system to hold it back, I'm sure.

    Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 3.0GHz - Wolfdale Arrives

Yup, it's an insanely great price. I'd pick one up to see how far it can be pushed, but I still believe my overall FSB cap with the E8400 held that one back as is.

    Haha, I LOL'd for real.

    EVGA 790i

Wow... $400 is a lot to pay for a motherboard...

    PCI x1 and X4

No clue... he's been AFK for the past month. I've shot off a few e-mails but have had no response. I know he had some weird living situation problems a few months ago, so that might have something to do with it.

    What Memory for Gigabyte M57SLI-S4?

I have a real good friend in Australia who is always sure to frown whenever I tell him how cold it is over on these shores ;-) Didn't one part of AUS get snow recently, like -very- light snow? I might be thinking of somewhere else. I know Texas had some a few weeks ago.

ASUS Xonar and Ultrasone PRO 750's Under Linux

Pre-grats! You will be extremely pleased with those headphones, especially if you pair it up with a card like the Xonar. I have no idea how they can charge less than everyone else, but they are legit. Their ratings prove it: http://www.bizrate.com/ratings_guide/cust_reviews__mid--32581.html

    New PC

Yeah... I don't like the fact that vendors will label the drivers to their own scheme... it makes no sense. Much easier to just go to the official site and snag whatever is there, like sbrehm mentioned. To compare drivers, you may just want to do some real-world tests... playing the same level...

    Happy Birthday Tech-Daddy!

Keep up the good work man and take today to relax ;-) Ok, we'll let you mod your cake if you really want to.

    Missouri Floods.

I feel the same way... but I'm just dealing with cool weather, nothing like that, haha. As for the pictures, looking forward!

Cracking RFID Using an $8 Scanner

From our front-page news: By now, many of you are well aware of the false securities that are imposed by many institutions, including banks, but a new video at Boing Boing further proves the fact that we are are less secure than ever. RFID chips are nothing new, and now, many credit cards, ID...

Wine is close to turning 15!

This blows me away! The popular Windows emulator, Wine, is almost FIFTEEN years old! Believe it or not... in all those years, there has never been a 1.0 version. Instead, it's always been 0.x.xx, despite it being a rather stable application. 1.0 is upon us though... it will hit on June 6th...

Intel Details Nehalem, Dunnington, Tukwila & Larrabee

Hah, you two are old-school. I've owned pretty much every generation, but I've never cared much for hardware back then so I didn't pay much attention. My Socket A was a -horrible- OC'er, so I thought AMD sucked with that machine. I was obviously quite wrong though, and realized this when I had...

    PS3 Versus Xbox 360

You said it Kougar. I admit it too... I am impressed by Sony. They released a console that seemed rather lackluster at first, and it seemed to remain that way for the entire first year. It's not until recently that they began to overtake the Xbox 360. To be honest, I would not be surprised if...

    MotorStorm 2 announced!

Agreed! And it should kick ass. After seeing that trailer, I really cannot wait. The first one was good, but the locales of the new one are just amazing.

    Ubunu 7.10

Alright, so I'm not an Ubuntu fan. I admit this. But am I the only one who thinks Hardy Heron is a ridiculous codename?

Windows Vista SP1 Ships Next Week

I had the same issue tonight. There were NO updates to be had at all... then an hour later, a new one suddenly showed up. I downloaded it, and then four more, and THEN SP1 showed up. What a finicky system!

Picking out a 30-inch monitor is truly a chore!

You are correct, although I'm unsure if Dell admits that, since the 3008WFP is a premium product. The original 3007WFP was discontinued as soon as the 3008WFP showed face, and the 3007WFP-HC in turn became their "budget" monitor. For the $1,200 price tag, it's well worth it. The specs are great...
