Intel Marks 60th Anniversary of the Transistor

If you remember when Jesus walked, I am going to be a bit scared.

    Techgage Benchmark Scoring Thread

Can you run that Lightsmark again? Your score is 50% higher than cards in SLI for some reason. I am just not sure if that's entirely accurate!

    Techgage Benchmark Scoring Thread

I haven't had much time to overclock, so all I've done right now is the Skulltrail machine. I'll benchmark my regular machine as seen in my sig sometime this week. As for SANDRA, the results we need are the Int/Float (Multi-Media) and MIPS/MFLOPS (Arithmetic) from both... it will be displayed in...

Picking out a 30-inch monitor is truly a chore!

I can agree with that for the most part. Using the 24" Dell for the past week or two has been spectacular... I absolutely love the physical size and the resolution. Icons and fonts are perfectly sized and the monitor actually fits on this crap desk. To me, 1920x1200 is a huge improvement over...

Intel Details Nehalem, Dunnington, Tukwila & Larrabee

That's a good point, but even with that in mind, there should not be such a lack of multi-threaded applications right now. Sure, Quad-Cores haven't been around that long, but multi-cores IS the future, so why don't these developers get a head-start on things for when they ARE more prevalent...

CES 2008: Intel Announces Sixteen 45nm Processors

No no no, haven't you been listening? http://techgage.com/news/cant_find_the_q9450_how_about_the_xeon_x3350_instead/

Intel Core 2 Extreme QX9650 - The 45nm Era Begins

That's an unfortunate typo... I would never run over or underclocked processors for our performance benchmarks unless explicitly stated (the only case would be comparing overclocked results to stock). I don't have an E6850 on hand, which is why it wasn't used in the review. There won't be major...

    PCI x1 and X4

Yeah, what the heck did happen? The forums have been rather <strike>dead</strike> unlively for the most part for quite a while, but lately they've been so busy, I almost can't keep up! (which is the best thing ever, ftr)

    What Memory for Gigabyte M57SLI-S4?

I think with that card, it should handle up to 1680x1050 using medium quality. I can't say for sure (but can tomorrow since it's a test I have to do).

New modder competition site, from MaximumPC

Up to now, I had no clue how that site worked, but now I do. Vote + 1.

That must feel so weird driving around and seeing most everything flooded... Great shots, but not such a great situation :-/

    Techgage Benchmark Scoring Thread

I have no idea about those SANDRA. There will be two results for each listed... ones an Integer result, while the other is floating-point. I am going to bench soon and I'll upload the scores. I'll edit out that post since it's kind of long.

Can't Find an E8400? Pick the Xeon E3110 Instead!

NCIX is great in Canada, but their presence in the US has been a little slow to catch on. They are obviously trying hard to change that, however.

    i'm very confused

Welcome to the forums! Like Greg said, the X3350 is a GREAT choice, if you can find it in stock. It's identical to the Q9450, but in most cases, costs a little bit less. The E5420 shouldn't be considered... it's a processor that's designed for dual-processor servers and is based on LGA771...

Picking out a 30-inch monitor is truly a chore!

Well... I agree with you sbrehm. The resolution is small enough, but I still think there are many people who are wanting to experience such a high resolution without taking up so much space on their desk. I think for 1920x1200, a 22" should the the cut-off, and for 2560x1600, 27" should be...

Windows Vista SP1 Ships Next Week

Yeah... for some reason after installing SP1... those language packages no longer show up for me. AND for some odd reason, "Search" is no longer found in my start menu. I'll keep SP1, but it's sure been clunky so far.

Wine is close to turning 15!

Well, the date of release has little to do with whether or not it will work. It depends on what the game requires and whether or not Wine supports it. I've had a lot of games work and many games not work, but overall I found it to be pretty reliable. Still, it has a LONG way to go, that's for...
