In the case of a bad GPU, Windows vomits

Ugh, that is insane! I've been having more issues with the card here... so I think it's toast. I can get back into Windows now, but the driver doesn't fully install, and I get constant static. Good idea, but with all the die shrinks, these things don't have as much nutritional value in them...

Specs for AMD's Radeon HD 6750 and HD 6770 Leaked

If that's the case, then it looks like there isn't going to be a major reason to get excited over the performance gains. Other architectural upgrades will be nice, though. Plus, even if those are launch prices, they won't remain that "high" forever, so down the road, they're going to deliver...

Is Blu-ray Going to be "Passed By" as a Format?

I hope that time is a while off. I don't own a ton of Blu-rays, but I do love them. Once you watch HD movies, it's almost impossible to go back :D

    Vintage Computer Festival Midwest 5.0

I haven't ever been to a vintage computer event, but after looking through this gallery, I'd have to say it'd be a ton of fun. There's a TON of equipment there I haven't even heard of before, and a lot of it still works...

Or at least that's the best way I can describe THIS:

NVIDIA GeForce GTS 450 - The Super-Affordable Fermi

I haven't seen proof that x8 x8 is a problem for even the highest-end of cards, so for these, it's a joke. I'm tempted to toss both of these cards into this rig to replace the GTX 285. Not a major upgrade, but at least +33% in some cases. Some DirectX action would be nice.

Is Blu-ray Going to be "Passed By" as a Format?

When Sony successfully pushed Toshiba's HD DVD format out of the ring a couple of years ago, things seemed to be good for the future of Blu-ray. For the most part, there has been some good success with it since then, but it's never taken off to the point where the standard DVD format could be...

Is Malware Coming Soon to Our Graphics Cards?

Like ourselves, our computers have long been able to contract "viruses" and other forms of disgusting malware that can at times render them inoperable. There are of course some major differences between viruses that we as humans can contract and viruses that our computers can, and one of the...

OCZ Unveils Onyx 2 SSD - Touting Excellent Price to Performace Ratio

For as long as we enthusiasts have cared about the solid-state drive, OCZ has been there delivering us some of the best offerings available. Today, the company offers ultra-fast SATA and PCI Express models, along with lesser-expensive models for price-concious consumers. Earlier this year, the...

NVIDIA GeForce GTS 450 - The Super-Affordable Fermi

Been itching to buy a piece of NVIDIA's Fermi architecture, but were looking for a total sweet spot? At $130, the GeForce GTS 450 might be it. In all of our tests, it competed nicely with AMD's Radeon HD 5750, but most impressive might be the card's scaling ability in SLI, which can be summed up...

    Building New Gaming Rig

For the most part, memory is memory, with the main selling-point of some kits being their design. If you run a case with a window, then chances are you're going to want a kit of RAM that adds to the aesthetic value, but if not, then as long as the speeds and timings are good, along with the...

Lamptron to Release Touchscreen Fan Controller with 30W Per Channel

It IS expensive, but it has the specs to back it up. The fact that it supports 6 x 30W fans to me is huge. It means you could use some seriously powerful fans in your rig, and only crank them up when you absolutely need to. Regular fans just don't have that kind of oomph. I am not entirely...

While CD Sales Are Down, Vinyl is on the Upswing

I'm sure by now no one will be surprised to hear that CD sales are on the decline, clearly being overshadowed by the rapid growth of digital variants. It's no surprise, either, since services like iTunes, Amazon MP3, 7Digital and others deliver what's essentially the same music, but at a lower...

Lamptron to Release Touchscreen Fan Controller with 30W Per Channel

This past summer, our cooling resident Bill took a look at NZXT's latest fan controller release, the tabletop Sentry LXE. The massive benefit of this controller wasn't so much the fact that it was an external unit, but that it had a touchscreen for a more interactive experience. In the end, Bill...

Specs for AMD's Radeon HD 6750 and HD 6770 Leaked

Launches of fresh GPU line-ups aren't uncommon, and most often, both AMD and NVIDIA deliver such a thing at least once very year to a year-and-a-half. But the upcoming launch from AMD holds a ton of promise, and might well be one of the most impressive GPU launches we've ever witnessed. Well, as...

Sony's PlayStation 3 Seeing Hacks En Masse

In a perfect world... haha. I couldn't agree more. Piracy is not a war that can be won. Why that hasn't sunk into the heads of these companies is beyond me. Instead, it's the legit consumers who end up being on the bad end of the stick. The pirates are the winners in the end. Haha, that made...

    Building New Gaming Rig

If I were a gamer in the market for a new GPU right now, I'd hold off until the Radeon HD 6000 series, because if rumors are proven true, the gained performance will be worth the wait. The HD 5770 series is a good gateway into the next series like Tharic said, but if you are willing to hold off...
