Which Shipping Company is the Most Careful with Your Packages?

As a tech journalist, I receive many packages to my door each week, and over the past five-and-a-half years that Techgage has existed, I've seen a fair number of solid deliveries and also total wrecks. There are a number of shipping companies I'll receive packages from, including FedEX, UPS...

    Flash crashes Windows 7

I have no idea what 3D DriveGuard is, but I agree on the bloatware. It was so bad on my HP dv2 that I scrapped the entire default install and deleted the recovery partition. It's easier to just install the entire thing from the start. Make sure your GPU drivers are completely up-to-date. It...

    Flash crashes Windows 7

Did you happen to simply re-install Flash and see if that helped things at all? You might even want to install an older version of Flash (even if it's still Flash 10) to see if the problem goes away. How are you digging the notebook, aside from this issue?

    NVIDIA GeForce GTX 570

To keep the mid to high-end GPU market interesting, NVIDIA has just launched its GeForce GTX 570, a replacement to the GTX 470. It's priced a bit higher, at $349, but packs extra performance, improved power efficiency and lower temperatures. Is that enough to make it a winner in today's tight...

Internet Explorer 9 to Ship with Anti-Tracking Feature

Internet Explorer 9 is set to bring a lot to the table in terms of new functionality, better Web standards support, faster performance and improved security, and it's Microsoft's hope that it will help put IE back on the map for those who have gone over to the alternatives. One feature just...

Want a Chrome OS Notebook? Sign Up for the Cr-48 Pilot Program

Whether you like it or not, it looks like the future of computing is going to be in the cloud. There are multiple companies that believe this, but most eyes are turned towards Google, as its Chrome OS looks to have the most potential. Why? Well, the fact that the company offers a bajillion...

    AMD Releases Three New Processors

I have to agree about the dual-cores, and I thought the same thing as I wrote this post. I understand that some people don't have a need for dual-cores, but when I think of putting a CPU in a rig, nothing smaller than a quad-core comes to mind, haha. I have a six-core Intel in this PC at the...

OCZ kicks serious ass... that is too awesome. I don't even have a freaking SSD in MY PC! As a side note, Thermaltake told me that the stuff has been sent out, so you should be receiving that soon also. I can't wait to see this thing built :D

    A Look at Futuremark's 3DMark 11

So far it looks like the highest score is around 5,300. This might take a while: http://bit.ly/iaTxC6 I don't think quad-GPU has been touched though, so soon enough someone is going to.

    AMD Releases Three New Processors

To round out what I like to call the "Day of Embargoes", AMD has released three new processor models to help keep things interesting through to 2011. Of these, the company has replaced the Phenom X6 1090T as the flagship product with the X6 1100T. The differences in speed is minor (3.3GHz vs...

    NVIDIA Launches GeForce GTX 570

It's been about a month since NVIDIA launched its flagship GeForce GTX 580, so what better time than a couple of weeks before the holidays begin to release a follow-up, the GTX 570? According to NVIDIA, this card is more power-efficient, features a faster architecture, and should be on average...

    A Look at Futuremark's 3DMark 11

Haha, I'm curious if even THAT'd do it, though. GPUs don't tend to scale 100% in a 2-GPU setup, and it gets worse the higher you go. If I had to guess, 4 x 580 would hit around 7000, but I could be a bit off. Shouldn't take too long to find out though, I'm sure SOMEONE'S on the path to hitting it.

    A Look at Futuremark's 3DMark 11

The time has come for another one of Futuremark's benchmarks to help us realize that our current PCs are lacking in performance. We're taking a look at 3DMark 11, which utilizes all of DirectX 11's goodies, and as expected, the result looks good. Read on to learn more, and also see our benchmark...

Want Avatar's Blu-ray 3D Version? Prepare to Pay

I'm not against the movie, it just doesn't appeal to me. It's rare when I am even remotely tempted to watch something sci-fi or fantasy. Definitely more of an action or comedy movie guy.

Want Avatar's Blu-ray 3D Version? Prepare to Pay

To call last winter's Avatar a hit would be a gross understatement. The film, which cost about $240 million to produce, raked in a total of ~$2.8 billion in gross revenue... more than 10x. I haven't seen the movie, nor plan to, but I've heard a countless number of opinions from many people, and...
