I have the same setup here, I went with 2 8800GT 512mb ( G92 ) in SLI. And yes, you can just use one if you like. make sure it is in the PCIe #1 slot ( upper most to CPU ) You'll like the E8400 and the EVGA 780i combo, good choice. Merlin
