Apple Acquires Low-Power Chip Maker P.A. Semi

Starting to sound like Apple is interested in some customized IE specialized chips. Not to use in their Mac systems, but for some more specialized purpose.

    Super Talent Releases Ultra-Fast DDR3-1800 4GB Kit

Well, I can make a theory on that. Those are the largest percentage of the boards sold... Gigabyte has always been helpful about listening to customers, and if the largest percentage uses midrange boards... ;) Back during the 965P-DS3 days they released no less than 12 official BIOS...

Where can I buy UV reactive Silicone tubing?

Hm, I couldn't say if shipping outside the US, I am not that familiar with any non-US sites that carry that stuff, sorry. Most of the time it is a cable wrap, sleeve, or covering you can buy to place over your own PSU cables yourself.... but there is the occasional flashy PSU that comes with...

    Buying

Hey, no problem. Due to the weight, I could probably put a computer in it and it wouldn't cost more than an extra dollar or two to ship anyway, so I'll probably try that. This one doesn't have a window, just a solid steel, latching door (I can't imagine someone breaking it!).

Where can I buy UV reactive Silicone tubing?

You mean watercooling sort of tubing?? There are several well regarded WC/exotic specialist websites that have reactive fans, tubing, and cables... this site is great, they charge you $8 just once for shipping, and then shipping is free for everything else that they can squeeze into the same...

ASUS to Re-Release Windows XP Eee PC in June with Intel Atom Processor

Hm, or even Via's Isaiah, assuming all that Atom-beating performance doesn't include a higher power consumption as well. Already surprising as heck it offers better clock-for-clock performance.

    Super Talent Releases Ultra-Fast DDR3-1800 4GB Kit

I probably asked already and don't remember... did you try Gigabyte Intel boards? Even the P31-DS3L was capable of a stable 480FSB without any real effort. 965P-DS3 Rev 1 got my little E6300 to 501FSB, P35-DQ6 made it to 542FSB / 3.8GHz fully stable thanks to actually having more than 3...

Intel Core 2 Duo E7200 - The New Budget Superstar?

Technically yes, they should work as long as the FSB speeds are compatible. However, I would still strongly suggest using nothing older than P31 or P35, although 965P should be okay. The only problem is the older the chipset, the older the PWM voltage specs on the motherboard, so potential...

Apple Acquires Low-Power Chip Maker P.A. Semi

This really sounds like another Apple/IBM PowerPC all over again. I'm be rather surprised if Apple can create anything better than Via's Isaiah or Intel's Atom. Or, by the time they do the next version of Atom will be out and Intel will be rolling in it.

    Going Vista 64-Bit...

Agreed... the only Vista I recommend is 64-bit, as long as you don't mind Vista. XP 64bit had way more hassles than Vista 64bit, and it still is tricky to find the drivers or versions of software compatible with XP 64bit.

    Super Talent Releases Ultra-Fast DDR3-1800 4GB Kit

I was wondering the other day... For the best performance and access latency you want a 2:1 ratio. So a 400FSB means DDR3-1600MHz RAM is needed. I wonder what the sweet spot for RAM speeds will be with Nehalem, or if it would even matter anymore? In which case lower latency should work...

    4GB DDR2 for $76!

One is a 4GB kit, the other is 2GB kit. 6400 is CAS 5, 6400c4 is CAS 4, and 6400c5 is a different (not as good) mem chip rated at 5-5-5-18. The 6400 and 6400c4 are identical, I've overclocked both kits to 1,000MHz using stock voltage (2.1v)

Western Digital Unleashes the Fierce VelociRaptor VR150

I've used RAID 10 arrays... noticed a huge chunk of level load times simply vanish. On older games it was simply gone completely. I got spoiled from it, going back to a single drive is very noticeable. ;) I'd highly recommend them with Intel chipsets... Vista already has all the drivers built...

    Buying

I need to start getting rid of stuff, but not sure I want to part this out or sell it with a system inside. I have one of these, looks just like it and is in good condition: http://www.antec.com/us/productDetails.php?ProdID=81046 It's huge and weighs a good bit as it is steel, so shipping...

Intel Core 2 Duo E7200 - The New Budget Superstar?

I've been told some people have killed 45nm chips on the XS forums (And knowing the XS forums, probably quite a few unfortunate 45nm chips went to a better place now), but I've not seen anyone kill one personally. In fact, I saw one insane person using 1.7v on it.... guaranteed it caused damage...

ASUS to Re-Release Windows XP Eee PC in June with Intel Atom Processor

I can't wait to see Atom in some laptops that actually have full size keyboards. Which means they can fit a 6 or 9 cell battery... battery life should really really be up there. :)

    RV770 is ATI 4800?

Definite need for 512mb, is a pretty big difference with that card. :) Not sure 1GB on RV770 will be any useful, not even 2x the power of G92 could give a GPU enough legs... might be interesting to see if GPU memory size affect folding speed though. With any luck, Stanford could have a GPU3...

    Initial Q9450 overclocking...

The 4Ghz wasn't fully stable, 4.2Ghz was prime stable when the system wasn't freezing up. Didn't spend that long messing with it, just enough to have a bit of fun and run some random benchmarks. Everything up to 3.6Ghz that I listed has been 24/7 stable though, I leave it running as a...
