    iPhone thoughts

Like Rob, I have been spending the majority of my time outside, in the sun playing with my kids and getting some much needed exercise. Since I have turned the PC off and lived real life, I have lost 22lbs and can now walk a few miles without feeling like the end is near. I have my trusty...

    Reproted Illegal Tatics

I completely agree that Intel is on top right now, but a nice mid-high end laptop could be built with AMD offerings. I realize I would be one of a few that would buy one, so I don't expect to see one anytime soon. I just hope Intel gets it shove up it's arse soon if this is true. It just...

You are gonna need at least 2.6GHz and probably more to feel any difference. You'd get a nice boost from a X2 dual core because they have optimized the drivers for dual cores. As for your ram, you will get a quite large overall system performance boost and a boost in graphics power with 2...

    Reproted Illegal Tatics

[rant] As silly as it sounds, I built my AMD system after owning 3 Intel C2D systems because I was sick of the rampant fanboyism (on other forums) expressed in every thread about how great Intel is and how bad AMD is. You cannot find any large forum around without 9 out of 10 people chanting...

Card is majorly CPU bottlenecked for one. Running a higher resolution will help ease that, but running a single core CPU without the benefit of dual channel memory is just gonna seriously kill performance no matter what happens on the software level. You need to get that CPU up to 2.6GHz or...

Anybody else try to get 3 years out of their computer?

My constant upgrading has come to an end so I am also gonna ride out my current PC for some time to come. To hell with upgrading for no reason........

    Future Proofing My Gaming Rig

OK, I must admit I am wrong in this. The information I was using was from a single source and I should know better. There is no way to make all 4GB show up, I think you can get up to 3.75GB max and then you'd have system issues from shutting down virtual memory and the page file.

    Future Proofing My Gaming Rig

I never said games would benefit, especially when XP will only assign a max of roughly 2GB to any 1 program anyways. BUT, if you are running a bunch of crap in the background while running a resource hog game it would help. As for seeing 4GB, you are wrong. Period. Put 4GB of memory in...

    Future Proofing My Gaming Rig

More system memory is a GREAT idea over stepping up that video card. As I said, it makes absolutely no sense ata ll to step up to the Ultra when you could most likely overclock near or to Ultra levels. As for the system memory, tecnhically, if you turn off Virtual memory and the page file...

Nothing to gain by getting the Ultra from the GTX. Complete waste of $$$.

ASUS board with no memory slots

I could have been a good idea but we all know they will use crappy memory that will be hardly overclockable if it is at all and it is just gonna cost too much. I for one do not want a motherboard company telling me what ram I can run. This is a great idea for a HTPC or someone that will never...

    Satellite high speed...

Look into a Cellular based internet access. Satellite access is gonna cost you just as much and as an EX satellite customer, they suck ass. Even a mild rain shower will cut your service and it's just crap for what you'll pay.

    8600 Gt Review

Upcoming games will show the limitations of the 128-bit memory bus when gaming over 1280X1024. You won't be able to run much over medium settings unless you keep the resolution down. I am not trying to downtalk your setup, as it is very nice and will give you great framerates. But even the...

    8600 Gt Review

At that resolution, you should be fine. In fact, the biggest performance issue with the 8600's is the 128-bit memory bus. If Nvidia put a 256bit bus (and they should have for hte $$$ of them) it would be a serious contender. But any way you look at it, at lower resolutions you'll probably CPU...

    8600 Gt Review

I have been a member of Tweaktown for a long time and I do like the site, but let's just say I don't always agree with their testing methodology and their results. Anyhow, that does look like a decent card. I am very tempted to get a few for SLI and see what they can do, although I'd probably...
