G4TVs "Ultimate Gaming PC" is Ultimately Wrong

You're welcome <3 BTW I went to G4's forums and searched and no-one that's a member there has bothered to mention anything about that spot. Not the ram screw up, nothing. It's like it doesn't exist.

G4TVs "Ultimate Gaming PC" is Ultimately Wrong

Actually, the A1 revision EVGA 680i will support the 45nm dual core chips. Dunno about quads.

ASUS Xonar U1 USB Audio Station

First I'd like to give my thanks to the kind folks at ASUS that made this possible. Now, before anyone starts telling me I'm an idiot or that I'm way off base I'd like to say that the U1 is outstanding from a hardware standpoint. My issues are with the drivers and more importantly the Dolby...

If he got pics of that I'd like to see them, I missed that part completely.

Please Recommend a MoBo for Intel Q6600!

The 8800GT only requires a 450W PSU for SLI, the GTX and Ultra's are the ones that chew up the power. The GTS 320Mb uses more power than the 8800GT 512Mb.

Please Recommend a MoBo for Intel Q6600!

They're bumping up some of the GTS's with 112 stream processors but they're bumping up the price to boot so why bother buying one? The GT has more stream processors, a faster core and a lower price tag right out of the gate, it's a win-win situation.

Please Recommend a MoBo for Intel Q6600!

First, what resolution will you be gaming at? 1600X1200? 1680X1050? Higher? Lower? If it's higher then get a second card and run SLI so you can turn on all the eye candy. If it's 16XX X 1XXX or lower a single 8800GT (don't waste money on a GTS, it's lower performance than a GT) will do you...

Anyone go to a Black Friday door crasher?

Mind running the part about 6 hours to go home? You lost me there. As to going to a BF sale, not me, not on a bet. Of course the fact that I have social anxiety disorder doesn't help. Mind you I can take large groups of people as long as they're either spread out (like at the LAN earlier this...

    Looking for cooling suggestions...

The 1600RPM version is the F. Looking at the letter at the end of the model number you'll see one's an E (1200RPM) the other's an F and the 800RPM is D. The F's are pretty quiet really, quieter than my 1300RPM Yate's are.

Black Friday was the reason for that. It was working fine when I posted that link last night.

    Crysis Case Mod soon

It won't die and kill your stuff, the ripple will just lower the life expectancy of your parts over the long haul.

    Crysis Case Mod soon

Ah, nice PSU. I was afraid you'd gotten the GameXstream. POS PSU there but the Pro is based off a Y3 (I think that's the name of the MFG) server PSU. Very stout unit although it's apt to be a bit loud owing to the design. Stacked PCB's with a single 80mm fan. Upside is that the 900 will keep it...

The 'Ring Record Taken By BMW M3 CSL - 7:22.8

Yeah, I know. Sad isn't it? This is why I hate ricers as a rule. They do "performance" as a bolt on thing, not as a gestalt(1) thing.

After working on and around IHRA top fuel rail dragsters I'm not impressed with turbo V8's. Actually, I'm not impressed with turbos at all. A belt driven blower will always reign supreme as the power adder of choice. There's no lag (you can still see the lag on the Chevelle) even if there's a...

Go for a Scythe S-Flex "F" series, I'll edit in the part number in a second. Here's the fan I'm talking about. Bear in mind you'll have to look elsewhere but it's a better fan than a YateLoon. They're pretty quiet especially inside a case.

Go for a big air cooler. The Thermalright Ultra 120 Extreme would do the job very nicely.

The 'Ring Record Taken By BMW M3 CSL - 7:22.8

That wasn't nitrous, it was the turbo finally spooling up. That's the whine which starts as the Supra starts getting into the throttle after the guy filming begins to pass him. Had he punched the giggle juice button there would've been no lag as the nitrous would've acted as a chemical...
