Do you keep your PC overclocked?

E6600 @ 3.0 GHz 24/7. I bench anywhere between 3.6 and 3.8 GHz but that not what your asking is it. Yes, mine is overclocked all the time. Modest, but not stock either.

Looking for a new hard drive

Seagate, Samsung, Toshiba and Western Digital all make very good drives. I personally prefer Seagate as well but own drives by Toshiba and WD too. I avoid Maxtor like the plague... have had problems in the past. Seagate owns them now so quality might have gone up but I haven't worked with any...

    Antec Nine Hundred

I am guessing that the stock cooler your using is the culprit. There is nothing wrong with the cooler itself but the downward blown air deposits dust everywhere around the CPU socket. On all coolers with this design, dust is a major cosmetic problem... and a performance problem if left unchecked.

    QNAP TS-109 Pro NAS

Do yourself a favor and get a Synology NAS. Their latest software (which we will be releasing an article on in a week) includes what they call "Surveillance Station." This allows you to connect a IP based camera to your network and monitor it with the NAS. No need for a PC to be on all the...

    QNAP TS-109 Pro NAS

Are you looking for RAID? If so, thats a decent NAS but the CPU clock is a bit slow. The 109 Pro that we looked at had double the clock speed of the one you linked to. For the money, I would honestly look at the 207 or the 207+ from Synology if your wanting RAIDable NAS. Look for our review...

$400 PS3 SKU Rumored for Holidays

Funny you say that in a thread that talks about how the cheaper PS3s offer only backwards compatibility through software emulation. Thanks for doing it on the cheap Sony.

That MX2 is good stuff as well, I just prefer the Zalman for ease of use. I have never compared the two on the bench.

    Playing your media

Not near as acid-ish as WMP but they serve their purpose. The player itself is amazing. Thanks to Rob for turning me onto it.

    Maxtor Shared Storage II 1TB

Nice review. I would personally like to see the companies that do it right, Synology, QNAP, Buffalo, Thecus, LaCie, etc.... stick to what they have been doing for a while now. Making very solid NAS devices that work. I would like to see companies like Maxtor, WD, Seagate and the like make NAS...

    New Build 4/4/08

I have never really noticed this until I read your post Merlin. I too live with a woman that does this. Strange and spooky that I'm not the only one this happens to. Getting this thread back on track... I'm about to post a few pics of the process.

    Nvidia BFG 7600GT OC version

Bump for a great price. If you still have it in a week or so, I will take it from you. I don't need it but could use it in another PC.

First timer GPU aftermarket cooling installation questions

The better cooling performance comes from the cooler itself and not from the thermal compound used. You might gain/lose a degree or two depending upon which compound is used but I will gladly secede those degrees for ease and convenience of application and sub sequentially, the cleanup involved...

Intel's Latest Tech to Help Decrease Notebook Theft (Hopefully)

Yeah, and you can still die is a Mercedez Benz, regardless of their wonderful safety record. The point that these companies are trying to make is that with each advancement in security tech, they lower the odds of someone being able to steal that data by lowering the number of people in the...

First timer GPU aftermarket cooling installation questions

For starters, thanks for stopping by. To answer your question, I have always used nail polish remover, acetone, to get rid of used thermal paste. If the residual paste isn't coming up from in between the pieced surrounding the die, I wouldn't worry to much about it. If you get to forceful...
