Only reason DX9 has stuck around for as long was for 2 reasons 1: DX10 sucked! It made many promises and delivered on very few and 2: Consoles, porting to the PC with just DX9 was cheap and easy. It's nice that DX11 has captured the attention of so many dev's including console exclusive ones...
