Skydiver Felix Baumgartner Plummets Faster than the Speed of Sound

Supposedly it's acceleration in the opposite direction of movement. I think it's a load of hogwash as brakes offer no acceleration they merely offer resistance to movement.

Skydiver Felix Baumgartner Plummets Faster than the Speed of Sound

I fondly remember reading about the early days of cars where scientists (yes, seriously, scientists) and medical doctors both agreed that the human body was never meant to exceed 35mph and was in danger of flying apart if it did. Good that they were wrong.

    Hover!

Oddly I seem to have some vague recollection of playing it but I've never had a win '95 machine. It was when he took the lap around the hacked intro screen that I realized I'd seen that very part. The pics of the people that worked on it.

Apple Confirms iPhone 5's Purple Aura Camera Issue

I have no clue as to how well that the room was lit, in my pic the room was only lit by ambient light coming in through the window with the shades closed. The camera I used is an 8.0MP Canon A590is. While the wall doesn't look terribly white it does look more correct than the iPhone 5 images.

Apple Confirms iPhone 5's Purple Aura Camera Issue

This photo was taken with a spanking new iPhone 5. The pic is being lit by the onboard flash. Notice the color of the wall, a nice deep lavender. Sadly, that wall is supposed to be white. This one isn't as bad, the wall almost looks dove gray. Still, neither is tinted from lens flare as...

Restoring the Start Menu in Windows 8

I'm hoping that M$ will come to their senses when the adoption of 8 falls below their expectations because of the metro interface. At present everyone discounts PC's because sales are down. They fail to realize that sales are down simply because there haven't been many reasons to replace PC's...

    Logitech Rolls-out Gamer-oriented G710+ Mechanical Keyboard

I was just thinking the same exact thing. My Lycosa does weird stuff and Razer wants me to ship it to them before sending me a replacement. That means I either have no real use of my PC for however long that takes or I buy a new keyboard. If I'm buying a new keyboard I'm definitely not bothering...

Restoring the Start Menu in Windows 8

That last one, ClassicShell, looks like the winner to me. I tried Stardock's version when I was experimenting with 8 and it was pretty bad although the article says they don't support VM run versions of the OS. When it's all said and done, though, I think I'll just stick with 7. I like it, it's...

Ban lifted, Galaxy 10.1 is going back up for sale in the U.S.

I do too. It shouldn't be pulled until it's proven to infringe as the law in the US is SUPPOSED to be innocent until PROVEN guilty. Heck, now Samsung is calling for a whole new trial as they believe that the jury foreman lied about possible legal ties to them via a third party (he was sued by...

AMD Attempts to Shape Trinity Launch Content - But How Much Does it Matter?

Now that the curtain has been lifted completely and full reviews are starting to trickle in, does anyone have any thoughts? The CPU performance that I've seen doesn't seem terribly bad. I'd wager it's better than the 940BE I'm still rocking in my main rig by a good margin. Add in the...

    Movies Thread!!

I watch them after I can get them on TV or Amazon Prime. I watched the Girl With The Dragon Tattoo with Daniel Craig on Starz a while back and found the original Swedish version (dubbed) on prime along with the sequels. While the newer version is more polished, the original version and the...

Microsoft Accused of Wasting $70K in Power to Avoid Fine

I can't say as I blame M$ for the contract as I'm certain they weren't the architects of it. All they likely did was get to either agree to it or have to set up shop elsewhere. That's the problem with the way our power is marketed in the US, each company has what amounts to a monopoly in the...

AMD Attempts to Shape Trinity Launch Content - But How Much Does it Matter?

Sorry I had to edit your post but the link wasn't working for some odd reason. As to the content, I agree that forcing a two staged review is pretty lame. In my opinion they're attempting to prolong their fifteen minutes of fame by letting one review carry the momentum over from the first...

Microsoft Accused of Wasting $70K in Power to Avoid Fine

Did I say I was upset with M$? Did I even imply it? No, I said it's wrong to fine them for not using X amount of power. If anything they should be on a minimum charge per month type of plan where they pay $X no matter what unless they go over and pay more based on usage. I've worked several...

Microsoft Accused of Wasting $70K in Power to Avoid Fine

Agreed. It shouldn't be allowed to fine a company for being responsible and using less energy. Especially in this day and age when everyone is going on about conserving our natural resources by curbing energy usage.
