Softmod an AMD Radeon HD 6950 to an HD 6970

Yep that's how it seems to me but there is one other thing, the pins in all 6 pins I have seen are: 1 +12v --- 4 Ground 2 +12v --- 5 Ground 3 +12v --- 6 Ground But I read that the spec is closed so no one sees it, and its possible that the spec has the 6 pin listed as: 1 +12v ---...

Softmod an AMD Radeon HD 6950 to an HD 6970

It says it right on the second page there: I believe the 8 pin is there to INSURE that the card gets the correct power since cheaper PSUs may not be able to provide 150w on the PCIe 6 pin connector, also could be why a couple cards in their chart now have unlocked with errors. As I said, if its...

Softmod an AMD Radeon HD 6950 to an HD 6970

Eh, I doubt it really matters, the power should be fine since 2x6pin gets 75w per connector which is 150w + the 75w from PCIe. The other thing is that in reality 3 12v lines in the PCIe 6 pin connectors can probably supply far more than the "rated" 75w. Also 75w x 3 is only 225w yet the card is...

Softmod an AMD Radeon HD 6950 to an HD 6970

NICE, it looks like it works pretty reliably from their chart. <table border="0" cellpadding="4"><tbody><tr><td align="center">Manufacturer</td><td align="center">Cards tested</td><td align="center">Unlocks and works fine</td><td align="center">Unlocks but rendering errors</td><td...

Cheap Realtek Gigabit Ethernet PCIe Cards

Well since there is no networking area I suppose this goes here, anyways on this cool Chinese website (they have some really cool stuff) I found this: https://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.52612 Its a PCIe 1x slot Gigabit network card for less than $10. If you need an upgrade well, here...

    One of those weeks...

lmao I had only heard good things about the Haf X till now, wonder if maybe its just you. How the heck did the button fall off the clear? That's just crazy, I broke my PCIe slot locking tab on my bottom slot the other day, was a PITA to remove and superglue it back together. The VM thing is just...

What Should the Default Action of Hitting a Power Button Be?

Meh, Windows XP for all who have forgotten HAS a prompt. Windows Vista and 7 lost it to become more "sleek".

    I tripped over some money!

Nice but seriously, my main partition is only 100 gb and of that about 40 are used (windows forces the hibernation file on there and the page file is on there too so without the page file its only 30 gb used). Part of it is my programs are on another drive so that's basically only windows, if I...

Hey looks like my GTX 275s should hit about 20 FPS, wait double that and maybe a touch more since my resolution is less than half that :P

    fps

Meh that's somewhat true but now thanks to GPU acceleration a lot of stuff (media wise) is/can be gpu accelerated with the right apps. Also AM3 hexacore chips are not all that expensive either, so you could always go that route.

    memtest help

There seems to be no reason it shouldn't be working right. Make sure all the bios settings are correct and if there is no problems in there try to re-seat the cooler and the chip.
