    Folding@home 3850 AGP

That is exactly why I bring it up. I never want to be a killjoy... but seriously, for the energy costs involved with the OC'd 3850, you'd be better off with that low end NVIDIA card. As you found it it delivers almost twice the performance, yet I'm sure it uses much less power at the same time...

When a cat jumps on IRC

Awww. It likes it's new butt warmer! (I sure hope it didn't start to walk off that left corner, I can see it already...) Does look a little like a main coon, but I don't think it is. Not sure really, though. Still plenty cute, and nice blend on the colors/pattern.

Burning my GPU up and what the heck happened to my 3dmark?

My first answer was going to be a straightforward no, but then I remembered something. There's a side effect I've noticed when my own FPS rates are super-high that some games (I'm thinking of TF2 in particular, as I get 200+FPS highs) is that at some FPS levels, the game looks great... but if...

Burning my GPU up and what the heck happened to my 3dmark?

That's some insane boosts, Rain! Take care the GPU isn't running too hot when you ramp up the clocks & volts together like that... laptop cooling is pretty substandard to begin with and it is easy to cook the hardware to the point it will fail. Especially if the GPU and CPU share the same...

Crysis 2 DX11: Where Tessellation Becomes Overkill

I just couldn't believe people at Crytek could fail to realize the water was still being tessellated even when none was visible or supposed to even be in the scene. Regardless of the possible motivations or reasons behind this might be... that it has happened reflects poorly on Crytek as it is...

PNY Releases Self-Contained Liquid Cooled XLR8 GeForce GTX 580s

I said as much myself, although in different words. But he's probably right, a single 120x radiator is not going to be enough to optimally cool an overclocked 580 core.. it'd do the job well, but there's still room for improvement. But throwing a CPU in the mix... I use one of the better...

HP Pulls Plug on its WebOS Products; Making Changes to its PC Business

lol Rob Yeah. So much to say about this, but it all amounts to just one thing. HP could of made webOS into a long term iPad contender and easily into a profitable investment, and instead when they didn't see the short-term profits they decided to bail. And because the margins are thin in the...

    Having trouble counting to 100,000?

120 "cuts" for 74 hours of footage... yeah, I'll just take y'alls word for it lol Haha, wow! Definitely adding that one to my favs as well. :D

    Pick Me A Mobo!

Well the problem was some brackets aren't flat, they curve so they either "seat" over the metal backplate, or they are molded to touch the motherboard. As long as the plates are completely flat (and insulated to prevent shorts) they should barely squeak by okay.

    Folding@home 3850 AGP

Hey GFreeman! I fold for EVGA, so your ATI card might revolt if you try to join them... :D In all seriousness, lots of sites have dedicated folding teams... but if you want suggestions, if you already browse w7forums they can always use extra folders. :) I have to underscore this. AMD GPUs...

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 to Offer Dedicated Servers for the PC

Why is it only the threat of competition the only reason game studios and large companies as a whole ever finally do things they should've done to begin with that benefit their own customers.

    Im buying an SSD.,,, Halp!

Alright, I had to do some research as I wasn't too familiar with the Force GT drives, those are the latest drives on the block. Both the Agility 3 and Force Series 3 drives utilize asynchronous NAND, while both the Vertex 3 and Force 3 GT drives both use the faster, but slightly more...

    SSD advice

I'm not aware of any problems beyond the usual for Vertex 3 owners? It was actually Corsair that had to recall Force 3 120GB SSDs due to a PCB issue, but as OCZ modifies most of its PCB designs they didn't have the same problem nor any recalls. Pretty much true. When technology pushes the...

PNY Releases Self-Contained Liquid Cooled XLR8 GeForce GTX 580s

Very interesting product... not only is the GPU core watercooled, but the rest of the card still receives dedicated air cooling of its own. Considering the VRM circuitry is usually one of the hotted parts of the graphics card, I'm very glad to see this. I would think the GPU core alone would...

    What is NASA?

The problems with NASA were both political, and also of their own doing. We were supposed to have the Constellation program to take over when the Shuttle fleet was retired, but President Bush never provided the additional funding to make it happen. (if anything, he actually cut their budget in...

    Pick Me A Mobo!

Erm, yeah. Five, I can't count I guess. :D Although I think it was actually four on the P67... At any rate, the leftmost column, if you use any backplate that touches the board there it will either not seat fully, or it will crush them if you force the issue when tightening down the cooler...

HP Pavilion G6 with linux advise (remove w7 bad idea?)

Dell used to sell systems with Linux as an option, but the return rates on said laptops/desktops were significantly higher than the identical Windows Vista counterparts, for whatever reason. So they discontinued the practice. I even checked recently to see if I could save on the cost of the OS...
