Valve Confirmed to be Working on Steam for Linux

While it's great to see source engine games finally moving towards universal OS support, this might be even more important for Linux than just a few more games. The backing of a major publisher/game powerhouse with a wide array of titles could very well be what's needed to get AMD and NVIDIA to...

Man Finds Long-Lost Mother with Help of Google Earth

I'm more appalled that they couldn't eventually reunite the kid with his mother somehow... what a way to grow up.

    ASRock X79 Extreme11

If ya check my second post I corrected myself, they're owned by Pegatron which is no longer owned by ASUS. :D Also, still no ETA or price yet on this board... I wonder what they're waiting for?? It should have a bug-free UEFI by the time they release it. Part of me is wondering if they're...

1366x768 Surpasses 1024x768 As Most-Used Resolution on Web

All the computers at my alma mater (in the classrooms + various labs + student center) were all using square 1024x768 LCD displays, so that's only a few thousand daily users right there... ;)

    Microsoft Announces Windows 8 Editions

Glad to hear someone finally had the impetus to go back to Home & Pro versions. Now if they had simply done away with 32bit like they should've...

    Having an issue with NAT

I've never once had to mess with the Windows Firewall for any sort of reason, except once with Borderlands because it was using ports in addition to those it had created rules for. I can't honestly remember any other time since I installed this OS that I've had a problem.... as DarkStar said...

    Cooler Master Eisberg

Yeah, the premium CPU waterblocks have reached a plateau. There literally isn't any real way to increase the heat transfer from the block to the water more than they already have. The last several blocks have only been able to shave 1-5 degrees off prior generations. I'd imagine the same will...

    Toothaches

Haha. I had all four wisdom teeth removed, at once, by an oral surgeon a few years ago. Man the guy was awesome, the entire ordeal took just 30 minutes and was "relatively" painless. Got the option of novocaine or knockout gas, went with the novocaine. Even good dentists will tell you to see...

    Having an issue with NAT

What DarkStarr said. I'd nuke the Windows OS drivers for the network adapter and reinstall them (with a newer version too since there almost always is one out), and cross my fingers that will work. Otherwise you'll probably have to temporarily remove Vmware while you reinstall them, make...

    Toothaches

Don't put it off if it's an infection. Most bad toothaches that do not go away are and you can die from them due to the infection. One of my teachers waited something around three weeks before she finally saw a dentist about a toothache that had developed into severe migraines. It was an...

NVIDIA Casts Doubt on Intel's 'Knights Corner' Processors

All I think, is that NVIDIA doesn't want Intel to finally figure out its design for a general purple, easily programmable compute card that will threaten their lucrative Tesla/Quadro markets. :) Of course they may have missed the point, AMD's GCN architecture just make them a strong competitor...

    Help with CloneZilla and laptop

Firstly, yes it's possible to do that. And it's a really good idea to do. :) I haven't used Clonezilla, but it should depend on how you make the image. It would only be 320GB if you do a sector-by-sector image. Acronis (and I presume most other tools at this point) will only make the image...

    ENERMAX MAXREVO 1350W ATX12V

I'm no expert but I trust JonnyGuru to make the right calls on them, and he's not afraid to point out flaws or "cheap" designs that cut corners but still perform well. He gave that unit a recommended rating which is pretty good...

    New Monitor DOA

So, my Dell 2407WFP finally went a week back. Main cap was leaking slightly out the bottom, which apparently after it reaches a certain point will blow out a voltage IC chip and damage stuff all across the power supply board. Was pretty spectacular and caused my UPS to power cycle everything...

Corsair Vengeance K60 Mechanical Keyboard Review

Well, if you can't find a Frys or Microcenter around, I'd suggest just ordering the most likely candidate online and hoping ya like it. Because even if you don't and have to exchange it for some other keyboard, I think the difference is well worth it in the end. After having to use this one for...

OCZ Unveils Indilinx Everest 2 Powered Vertex 4 SSD

Might be for the better... 60GB drives have a lower endurance just because there isn't as much capacity to spread writes across, and also nor as much reserved spare area for writes / cleanup. Also performance really takes a hit at those capacities too. Can't wait to see 120GB SSDs reach 60GB...

    OCZ Vertex 4 Incoming

Unfortunately yeah... SLC is 4-5x more expensive than MLC flash on the flash market. So a 60GB SLC drive would cost as much as the 240GB MLC drive. Intel's own 313 cache SSDs are an example of this. The Intel 24GB SLC 313 costs $140, and they make their own flash.
