I believe most are powered by USB from the notebook/netbook. And the main concern is not cooling, but battery usage. If you have one of the large notebooks that do generate a lot of heat, then the battery life REALLY goes to pot.

Ahhh Yes, I remember 3.5... and now CS3 extended. I scanned some old family photos, I showed my little brother how to repair and even take people out of photos. He was amazed that you could do that. But as for the market, there seems to be a lack in photo restoration.
