OCZ Announces First Intel Extreme Modules

Are there any details as to how these XMPs will be enabled with the BIOS? Specifically, when an XMP is loaded from the memory, I want to assume that the timings will be visible in the BIOS. Overclocking memory has always been a PITA for me because there are so many settings to deal with. I...

    What case?

I agree with Rory on the P182. The OCZ Vindicator or the Thermalright Ultra Extreme 120 would be good choices for cooling - I think OCZ sells a vindicator mouse also. I think you'd be hard pressed to find a current-generation motherboard that doesn't allow CPU fan speed control.

    Gigabyte GA-X38-DQ6

I also appreciate piles and piles of comparison data - very nice. As far as layout goes, there are two things I would change: Backpanel: Instead of 8 USB ports on the back, how about 6 USB ports and two 2 eSATA ports. A clear CMOS switch would be nice also. SATA ports: Use 90 degree SATA...

Taking my TJ07 to the watcooling extreme

They are extremely helpful. I still have to deal with all the wiring/connections, but not having to drain the entire loop to swap hardware is great. I just pulled out the motherboard to remount the CPU block, and I'll be adding some lighting ~Tuesday. I've also relocated the fill port to...

    OCZ Announces PCP&C Turbo-Cool 1200 Power Supply

PCP&C might have the best DC output quality around, but after suffering through the cacophony of my 'Silencer' 750 for the past 6 months, I don't ever plan to use a PSU with an 80mm fan again. There are other very good PSUs hitting the market now (like the TT Toughpower, to name one) that are...

RIAA Awarded $222,000 in First Jury Trial

Hey, at least the judge didn't let the RIAA president testify. .....That's got to count for something.

Intel Core 2 Duo E6750 Performance Preview

That will depend on the motherboard that was used, and will vary across brands, chipsets, and even across identical boards. Basically that's just a footnote indicating that not all voltages in the system were stock. Each individual overclock involves some trial and error, however, in this...

Vin Diesel, Paul Walker Both Return In Fast & The Furious 4

I'm all about promiscuous cars, kegs of women and fast beer, but when my ability to suspend disbelief is taxed more by the stupidity of the characters/writing than by physically improbable events, I have a hard time enjoying the movie.

Taking my TJ07 to the watcooling extreme

No problem. These QDs are made by Colder, and are considered to be the best choice for PC water coolers because they are industrial grade parts, and supposedly have compartively low flow restriction. I got these from McMaster Carr, who's catalogue has some more detail. McMaster.com, catalogue...

Taking my TJ07 to the watcooling extreme

What you are planning shouldn't be a problem. A BIP with 25mm fans or an MCR with 20mm fans should fit without issues, and there are a lot of easy ways to get more space for MCR+25mm fans, like this, for example. Glad you like it. One thing that I may change in the future is the way I use the...

    Water Cooling Question

Better cooling is not necessarily achieved with separate loops. Water blocks and radiators perform better with greater flow - examples can be found on Swiftech's website, where they publish test data indicating the performance increases you can expect with greater flow rate. As long as you...

    Water Cooling Question

I'll he honest, what you're describing sounds like a huge waste (performance-wise) to me. However, if you're going for aesthetics, it could be pretty neat. Nothing needs more than one loop. Period. My old system had dual loops (1 for CPU, 1 for GPU) but I changed to one loop for the reasons...

Taking my TJ07 to the watcooling extreme

All right, time to finish this off So now all that was left was to manage the cables. No problem. Here's the case: And the PSU: Above, the cables on the left are the ones I'm going to use, and the ones on the right will not be used at all. Yeah, a modular PSU would've been nice...

    Water Cooling Question

If you've got a loop, and are thinking of adding a second pump and radiator, the best way (performance-wise) to do it is to add everything in series. This will allow you to leverage the additional head pressure of the second pump across the entire loop and will make your loop redundant in case...

Radiohead Fans Can Choose Price For New Album

That's freaking awesome. I am going to be all over this - they're a great band and this is a very interesting and brave move on their part. They also gave me my CounterStrike name several years ago: Bulletproof. . .I Wish I Was. I've been using that name since, like, 2002.

Thanks, and Yes. I remember seeing that build somewhere a long time ago - probably one of the first times I'd seen QDs used.

Taking my TJ07 to the watcooling extreme

Willer Time Test fit the motherboard Mount the top radiator I'll note here that I tested my 'flame-polishing' skill on a piece of scrap plexi and was less than impressed. I couldn't get the edges looking any better than they looked with a little high grit sanding, and on top of that the...

Taking my TJ07 to the watcooling extreme

Starting with the base: First piece was the double radiator. The divider plate is to help me figure out the routing. Then I added the lower triple Here's a close view of the front tubes There was a lot of cursing going on there. Here's where pump 2 is going to go...

Taking my TJ07 to the watcooling extreme

Well, this weekend was less than fun Ok, sorry for the delay but I kinda had to get the system up and running before I could post an update. The wiring isn't done yet, but the water loop is together and the system is running (apparently) fine now. I'll start this update with the last things...
