Writing a book? Not sure whether to go the publisher vs. self-publish route? Don't know the benefits of either? James Altucher, an author who's dabbled a bit in both, has written a great article over at TechCrunch that can help clear a lot up before making your decision. While the focus of the article is more towards entrepreneurs, the information is useful for any author.

I used to write a lot. I tried to self-publish, but didn't get ... anywhere, really. :rolleyes: I'm more interested in non-fiction now. But presently my life story mostly consists of being in front of the computer. :D

I think publicity is the hardest thing about self-publishing. If you are very active on social networks, I think getting the word out is easier than ever.

Got to admit, was a useful read - not that I have a book to publish, although my random and nonsensical thoughts are a dime a dozen... so maybe there's my niche.

So who wants to hear about the hamster, the bishop and the convertible? - rhetorical
