Take a medium-high population server, put it at the top of a transfer list and watch as all hell breaks lose in a 4 hour period over the weekend.
Thankfully, transfers have since been disabled on the Alsbeth server, but it doesn't make up for the fact that what was once an instant login server - has now been turned into a 40 minute queue with dozens of players standing on-top of NPCs and all competing for mobs and collectible quests in a small confined area...
Supposedly, new hardware/bandwidth will be provided for the server soon, but we'll see. A number of the smaller servers were being shut-down to conserve resources, so a number of people were evicted from them, but to have so many people pile on the same server was a bit much... Oh well, we'll see how the coming week holds up.
