It's probably safe to say that no matter what kind of good one person does, it doesn't make up for other unrelated crimes they've committed. That said, you might find it hard to choose a side with this story. You see, laptop thefts are nothing new, and are far from unique, but this particular story is, because it seems the thief has some sort of conscience after all. No, this is not what you think.
