Sony DRM root kit issue..

Most of you probably have heard about this lately, but maybe have passed it off as just another random problem. If you don't know what this is all about, read about it >here<.

To put it simply, select Sony music CD's have the ability to install rootkits onto your system, which are executables and files that the OS cannot see. They cannot be seen with task manager, or in the system services. Basically, Sony installs spyware, and it can even hurt your computer if you are targeted with a trojan that exploits it.. and I am sure many are to come.

Chances are that you do not have it, but if you want to perform a super quick test to see if you do or not, simply create a new file on your desktop or somewhere, and call is $sys$file with or without an extension. If the file disappears, then you have the rootkit.

This is not easy to remove, and Sony only offers a half assed tool to partially remove it, so you will likely have to bear it out for now.
