SD card question

Hey guys,

My wife recently bought a new camera. In the midst of her 'consumer fever' she bought some extra sd cards as well. We know Kingston is a fairly decent brand for pc memory, so she picked out a couple of their 1GB cards. After the fever abeited, she started looking around and found what she thought was a good deal really wasn't and called to cancel... and got upsold to a 'better brand' at no cost.

Now I'm holding a couple Silicon Power cards that were pawned as better than Kingston, and the company called them GoDigi cards (Invoice says:
Godogi 1GB Elite Super High Speed 50MB/sec secure digital memory card)

I've been surfing for a while and I can find no info on this company (godigi). Has anyone heard of them before and is my gut correct in telling me I just got bent?

I have never heard of either of those brands... but that's not saying much. There seems to be very unknown companies for any type of product, really, but that doesn't necessarily mean they are bad.

I have to ask for the reason in choosing 1GB cards, however. I'll admit that some people wouldn't need more than 1GB, but most 4GB SDHC cards retail for under $20:

I use a 1 gig XD card, just because I shoot RAW when on location.
They can take up to 12 mb for each image, thus a 1 gig card.
I wish they came with 4 gig XD cards, though.....

xD cards are horrible, as are most proprietary formats. SD is a great format... offers lots of performance and space, so I don't see a reason why companies would fore go choosing it for their cameras (unless of course, they choose Compact Flash which might be a little more understandable in high-end cameras).
