Saitek might not be the first name to come to mind when contemplating a gaming mouse purchase, but after taking a look at their 1600DPI and 3200DPI offerings, the message is clear: Saitek has the capability to be a real threat to the better known competition. These mice are not perfect, but we are on the right track.

You can read the full review here and discuss it here.

I don't know if I could ever use any mouse not made by Logitech but with that said, it looks like Saitek is at least trying to push out decent products.

They were definitely ahead of the curve with 3200dpi capability, but it was annoying that the 1600dpi had more feature-packed drivers, especially since those drivers appeared to be based on a stock driver program. From what I read about the driver software and my interactions with it, it seemed like the same underlying drivers were used to power Saitek's joysticks and possibly other peripherals as well. From this, I find it especially odd that the 3200dpi mouse either 1) has under-developed drivers when all of the development has already been done or 2) has drivers developed specifically to limit the functionality available in Saitek's standard drivers.

Not that either driver was bad, but it seems like Saitek had a lot more tricks up their sleeve that they could've leveraged with the 3200dpi mouse.

Perhaps with a matured driver set, the mouse will perform more as it should.

I wish I had a wife so I could somehow spin that into something hilarious. I agree though, it's upsetting that the "budget" model of the two had better drivers. Solid mice overall though. I hope to see Saitek continue with their mouse line-up and give Logitech and others some real competition.

If your problems started when you added the new feet, it may be possible that the new feet have lifted the optics too far from the mousing surface. I used both of these mice on a Ratpadz GS and an Icemat without issues.
