Looking at many different reviews, benchmarks and even 3DMARK06 ORB

The 8800 GT 512mb card, no matter what vendor it came from took the lead fast in the world.

I would say they made a good card and at a good price.

Even the newest card on the market gets compared to the 8800 GT

OC the 9 series and it's a better card than the 8800 gt...but then,,,you have to OC it to campare.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but this is what it appears to be.

I totally agree with you. 8800GT was definitely the leading card since it came out. But with the new 9 series cards coming out which model do you think will take over being the most popular?

None? Although the 9800GT is supposed to be 55nm and launching soon... that one would likely be if any of them are going to come close.

Part of it is NVIDIA is releasing next gen cards based on GT200 this year... whatever they are going to be, they should pretty quickly overshadow the 9600-9800GTX cards I would think
