I learned a while back, way back when I painted models that you don't paint acrylic over enamel, it cracks up. The enamel dries slower than the acrylic on top and you can see the color underneath.
So, I used that same technique here in the center, Yellow is underneath the flat black and it is started to crack and pull away, it looks like an ember, and the fire is being expelled all around. It did come out quite nice.
I took it to work today and got the wow's and Ooooooh's.
Came out better than I ever thought it would.

True Fire 2nd attempt

I started all over.....
First I painted over with flat black
Then I used a trick to simulate carbon fiber....
http://www.metacafe.com/watch/485595/how_to_airbrush_carbon_fiber_step_by_step/

Then I did another true fire, since the last paint job, I got the true fire DVD from SmartFlix, you get it for a week and don;t have to spend 133.00 for the 2 disk set.
You gotta mail em back though.
Anyway, over the carbon fiber I started the new fire Notebook top.

Last two are with one clear coat only....I'll put another 2 clear coats on and then buff.
