Different CD ROM problem!

Hello again,

I'm having a problem with the cd rom on my newer computer. It's an Amd athlon

2.09Mhz processor 1 gig ram Wix Xp. OK I a cd rom re-writable burner lite-on

LRT-48327s standard cr rom came with Cpu. I have the program roxio easy cd..

and when I burn a cd everything works fine no problems but when I try to write

to a re-writable cd the program and the cd rom recognize the disc but after it

goes through the 15 minute or so recording process I check the disc and

nothing is there it is blank. I even tried a different program this morning but

got the same effect. I know my cd rom can write to re-writables why isn't

anything showing up on the disc. could the problem be the whole plus and

minus deal with the cd's and how do you tell if your cd rom does CD-W or

CD+W. If anyone can help me i would apreciate it alot . Thanks!

It could have to do with the + or - but I doubt it. Try formating the disc before you burn more to it, or try burning at a lower speed and see if that helps. It could be just the burner getting old also.

I hate Roxio, so try a different burning program like Nero. That may fix your problems right there.. maybe.

It could be the disc itself as well. I've had a few cd-rw just stop re-writing on me after around 10+ re-writes... I blame it on the mass-production of them, gotta have a few bad ones in a batch

Your drive should support both "-" and "+" discs. I think that the problem is just that you are using blank discs that are not compatible with your drive. Try discs from a different brand. GOOD LUCK. Keep updating us...

Hmmm... you're using CDs, right?

There are no "+" or "-" CDs! That's only for DVDs!

But, I would agree with Rod, other than that.
Try formatting the disc first & try burning software that doesn't suck (such as Nero).

Probably you got, just like I did, a deffective disc in the package. So just go and buy another one. And the advice about the software is true. Get a good one:Nero - about the only good one.
