Hi all,
I've just started messing around a bit with RAM settings. I've 4gb (2X2gb) G.Skill F2-6400CL4-2GBPK

It's rated:
5-5-5-15@1.8 volts
4-4-4-12@2.1 volts

Right now I've got it running 800mhz with 4-4-4-12@1.9 volts.
I overclocked it to 1066mhz with 7-7-7-24@1.8volts. The overclock timings were set automatically by my mobo. I didn't try and reduce the timings and/or adjust voltages manually. I could probably tweak those timings a bit on the overclock.

Generally speaking, how much should I be willing to let the timings suffer to overclock the RAM? Are the 7-7-7-24 timings making the overclock worthless? Am I better off concentrating on keeping the timings (or one or two of the settings) as low as possible rather than trying to overclock the RAM?

If I could get some views/opinions on this, I'd appreciate it.

Thanks

You would see better performance using 800Mhz 4-4-4-12 settings than you would using 1066Mhz 7-7-7-24 settings.

Generally I'd say leave it at 800MHz 4-4-4-12, or overclock the RAM but leave the timings at 4-4-4-12. If you really want 1066Mhz then 5-5-5-15 is the most you would want.
