I'm sure this will come as no surprise to anyone, but the vast majority of content being shared using the BitTorrent protocol is of an "illegal" copyright-infringing manner. That includes movies, games and other software, music, pornography, images, and believe it or not... books. The fact that illegal content is downloaded often on BitTorrent is widely-accepted, but did you realize the number could be as high as 99%?

I'm going to paste what I said elsewhere, just because I hate slanted news like this. I'm not denying the majority of torrents are illegal, but 99% is a meaningless number here used to pull in readers.

Claiming 99% of torrents are illegal is only true if your sample size consists of a single torrent site. Not really a representative sample. ;)

Quite a few sites in the business of transferring large files use P2P now, not just linux distros. I have seen torrents used to propagate Indie games and user game mods/patches to all manner of no longer supported games. Even ASUS uses P2P to transfer drivers, it's the only method that even works half the time with their site.

Bullcrap. How many times have we seen twisted studies in favor of the RIAA/MPAA. Yeah....this is bull. I'd say 70%. Not almost all
