    Tabula Rasa Pre-Orders Open Up

    As usual, from our news: I have mixed feelings towards Tabula Rasa, because the final game is -nothing- at all like the original screenshots. When a game goes through such a drastic transformation, it has to make you wonder how well it will fare when all said and done. Luckily, RPG guru Richard...

    Good media player for Linux Ubuntu

    Haha. Yeah, it's a bigger chore to install Windows after the fact. It would require you to repartition the hard drive with GParted or install to a spare HDD, then boot up with a Live CD version of some Linux, edit and re-install GRUB to the MBR. Glad you are liking Linux so far though... if...

    Vista... sucks

    From our news: I've been accused of being a Vista-basher in the past, many times. I agree, sometimes I rant and rave about how much I dislike the new OS way too much. But it's too difficult to keep my mouth shut when many other people are doing the same thing. The latest 'victim'? Jim Louderback...

    How to tell when your community has too much tax revenue

    Intel Xeon X3210 2.13GHz Quad-Core

    I don't know... Everest reports the same temperatures as CoreTemp (CoreTemp also crashes on most P35 systems), so it wouldn't be more accurate. Last month, I had a less-than-ideal Quad-Core which was slightly overclocked, and Everest noted that one of the CPU cores hit 100C. I used my Type K...

    OCZ or CRUCIAL Ballistix

    Either kit will serve you well, so I wouldn't necessarily pay extra just to have the DDR2-1066 speeds. Chances are that the Crucial Ballistix 800MHz will do 1066MHz anyway, if you are not afraid of dabbing in some overclocking. Really, any of those kits will be fine. I do admit I really like the...

    Bioshock = Must Buy

    Do you have an Xbox 360? If so, it's worth downloading the demo. There should be a PC demo in the coming days though... I can't wait.

    How to tell when your community has too much tax revenue

    Click the Caddy to enlarge With the lousy economy in Michigan, most towns and cities have been struggling with shrinking revenues from state and local property taxes. All over the state, public employees have been getting laid off. There are, of course exceptions, with Bloomfield Hills north...

    Bioshock = Must Buy

    As posted in our news: It's official. 2K Boston and 2K Australia know what they are doing, because Bioshock has wowed the collective press, with complaints difficult to find. This unique shooter has been hyped for quite some time now, and for good reason. It's still a 3D-Shooter, but it offers...

    Intel Xeon X3210 2.13GHz Quad-Core

    One of the most popular CPUs on the market right now is the Q6600, thanks to the fact that it offers four cores at 2.4GHz. But what about the Xeon's? Their prices are also more affordable now, with their X3210 2.13GHz retailing for $260. Read on as we pit this Quad-Core against the rest of our...

    ASUS Blitz Extreme & Formula Motherboards

    Great overclock Palme! I still haven't had much of a chance... but hoping to tinker around a lot more on it tomorrow. I just need to get a review out of the way first... Unregistered, you need an nForce board to use SLI... such as 650i or 680i. MakubeX, I wish I had a better opinion on the...

    Samsung YP-K3 2GB MP3 Player

    But did your lighter play hot songs? Haha, I kill me. :-\ As for the K3, no doubt it was copied from the Nano, or something else. It's pretty hard to differentiate an MP3 player, especially when you are getting that small. They all have buttons, and a screen. Not much you can do. Even if...

    Good media player for Linux Ubuntu

    Still, if you were at the command prompt, you could have followed my instructions ;-) How you could install a bad driver though, I still don't understand. Did you follow some tutorial specific to Ubuntu, or did you download the driver off the official NVIDIA site? Either way, hope you enjoy...

    Synology DS207 2-Bay NAS Server

    While there are many NAS products available, there are none that we've crossed that have matched the feature-set of Synology's DS207. There are too many features to mention in a small intro, so read on to learn more about the product we had a difficult time finding a fault in. You can read the...

    Good media player for Linux Ubuntu

    Well for one thing... I am not sure how the NVIDIA drivers installed if they were the wrong version. It shouldn't install at all if it's the wrong version, at least that's how it has been in my experience. What you could do is just hit up the command prompt. If you boot up and nothing is on...

    Good media player for Linux Ubuntu

    Good to hear man. That's the thing... many people are wary of it, but once you use it, you can learn so much in a little span of time. You should really try Kubuntu some time though... Ubuntu uses GNOME and that's a DE really designed for people who enjoy what's given to them. As you can see...

    27 days uptime

    Naw it wasn't sluggish at all. Once in a while I will log out of KDE and back in to 'refresh' things again, but that's about it. The computer is my work PC... it's the one I sit at for more hours per day than I want to admit ;-) I'd estimate that within that time, the computer was used at least...

    Good media player for Linux Ubuntu

    Welcome to the Linux world man. For video, I use VLC for most everything... I haven't really found a need to use anything else, really. For DVD's though, I sometimes use Codeine, just because it's so lightweight. http://www.videolan.org/vlc/download-ubuntu.html...

    27 days uptime

    Well, I did better this last round. It ended, not due to stability, but because I was cleaning the inside of the PC and knocked a power cord that somehow shut the PC off. Actual count was 83 days, but whatever. No walls were kicked this time, so I must be learning how to keep calm ;-)
