Oh, you are talking about 3DMark? It's normal to have scores from that fluctuate, but no-so-much with PCMark. For an "accurate" 3DMark score, it should be run two or three times and the scores averaged.

LOL, that's the thing. The problem is that if it's not a stable overclock, it could crash. If it's a borderline stable overclock, it will just show errors, which means you can finish up your game of cards (most likely).

I can't guarantee that the X5482 is unlocked, but I can't see why it wouldn't be. It's the highest clocked Xeon and "X" normally denotes "Xtreme". On the desktop side, all X or QX processors are unlocked. I'm running the QX9775 with a 10x multiplier right now (stock is 8).
