    Built New Computer(frequent lock ups)

The first two things to tackle would be temperature testing and also stability testing. You should download a copy of Core Temp or Real Temp and make sure that your temperatures are keeping within reason, because if your CPU is overheating, then slowdown would make sense. The same applies to...

Razer AC-1 or Creative X-Fi sound card?

How much are these cards going for nowadays? I think you'll get better sound from the X-Fi, but sometimes Woot.com offers the AC-1 for insanely low prices ($~60). The ASUS Xonar is the card I'd personally recommend, but I'm no audiophile, but rather a wannabe audiophile.

Dell Announces Vostro 2510 Business Notebook

From our front-page news: It was less than a week ago that I was lusting over Dell's latest Inspiron and Studio Hybrid release, but their Vostro 2510 has done a good job of keeping my mind off of them. The latest Vostro model starts off at $899 on the official Dell website and includes a T5670...

Amazon Has Sold Close to 250,000 Kindles

From our front-page news: When Amazon first launched their Kindle book-reader, it didn't take long to realize how popular it was. Or was it popular? It was actually quite difficult to tell, because shortly after the initial launch, it became increasingly difficult to acquire one of the...

From our front-page news: We first learned the basic details of Larrabee early last year, with much more information discovered earlier this year at the spring Intel Developer Forum. Well, Intel has gone ahead and released even more information about their upcoming graphics processor, and we of...

Grats on the new purchase Merlin! Revisions are en route, but I doubt you are going to regret your purchase anytime soon. Still might be a good idea to have patience though ;-) The new revisions should be out soon... and the HD 4870 X2 is also right around the corner. It help drag prices down...

    Vista system Slowdown

I agree with applying the Windows Updates, but I'm doubtful that will fix anything. Did you check the SMART status of your hard drives with HD Tune, or another application with that ability? It seems awful weird for applications to cause such slow-down on such a powerful machine. Checking the...

Cuil Off to Rough Start, Considered Laym by Most

Didn't see that post, but I can imagine their response. After the post I made, I began to realize that it was even worse than what I made it out to be. Search for me, for example, 'Rob Williams'. You'll see many results, none of which are me, of course, but some of the results on the front page...

NewEgg Preparing to Launch Canadian Counterpart

I try to avoid UPS at all costs up here in Canada as well, but I won't get into all of the reasons here. Like you, most packages I receive via UPS are also in rough shape... some even look kicked in (literally), so I'm glad I'm not alone there. I still could agree that their selection could be...

    ASUS M70Sa 17" Multimedia Notebook

Long-term reliability, from what I understand, is quite good. I've known a few people who've had their notebooks for a few years, and I have never heard of any horror story. Their customer service is not ideal though, that's for sure. I've never dealt with it myself, but sometimes it's hard to...

KDE 4.1 is Significantly Better than 4.0

From our front-page news: From what I gather, the excitement level was rather low when KDE 4 first launched. Although it was a rather significant upgrade over 3.5, bugs seemed prevalent and not too many people were completely sold on the new design, like myself. I have never installed it...

Apple to Skip Intel Chipsets in Upcoming MacBook Lineup?

From our front-page news: When Apple first jumped onto the Intel bandwagon, fans cheered. Making the move to an x86 processor meant great compatibility, and given Intel's most-recent track-record, it also meant getting a much faster product. Well if recent reports are to be believed, then Apple...
