Xbox 360 Blu-ray Rumors Heat Back Up

Hah, same here. It wasn't Microsoft that killed off HD DVD though, it was the fact that Sony decided to brilliantly include Blu-ray with their console. That was the smartest move ever. Even if we do see a Blu-ray add-on for the Xbox, I have a gut feeling it will sell in very low numbers. I just...

    OpenOffice.org 3 Released

I'm officially pleased with the latest version, but man, I really, really, really want better graphing capabilities. You simply cannot recreate the graphs we use in our reviews in OpenOffice. I think I'd begin using OOo for more than just Calc if that kind of functionality improved. Office 2007...

    CoolIt NV200 GPU Cooler

I'm curious as to how before, the idle and load temps were far different. How come with the CoolIT, there is only a 4°C differential between the idle and the load? You'd figure that at idle, it could hit at least 30°C.

Who's planning to upgrade to Nehalem?

This is what I find odd about Intel's own DX58SO... it has four DIMM slots. It's odd, because they're the ones who should be promoting the fact that you can use lots of memory on the new platform, but they don't seem to be too concerned. Thanks to pricing, the maximum amount of memory you'd want...

AMD Splits In Two, Planning New Fab in 2009

The SSE4 thing is a huge mess... I'm not even sure exactly how it works. As far as I know, AMD uses SSE4 instruction sets, but not the extra SSE4.1 instruction sets. Likewise, SSE4a is a group of instruction sets produced by AMD that are only found on their own processors... not Intel's. Still...

    AMD's 45nm Opteron's to Launch this Month?

I agree, 4GHz might be possible, but I can't see it being possible without insane voltages, at which point, I don't care anymore. I'm all about stable overclocks, and if Deneb can only hit 3.6GHz with high voltage (some Intel Quad's only need 1.35v to hit that, like our QX9770), then I don't...

    Is it worth the $100...

I wish I noticed this thread sooner. That drive is not the best best out there, and there's a reason it costs $100 for a 64GB, when quality SSD's are at least four times that. I'm really surprised you haven't noticed a speed hit though. According to Anand, it fails horribly where writes are...

Intel's X58 Chipset to Cost Less than X48?

Well, there's undeniably a markup, but it seems to get worse with each new launch. The X48-based Rampage Extreme retails for around $400, while the P5E3 Premium sells for around $300. The P6T is supposed to retail for over $400, so what kind of pricetag are we going to see on the X58 Extreme...

    A new contest using Deuce!!!

What in the? How on earth did the contest coordinators let that go through... there's no single doubt that there was some shady business going on. But, if the flurry of negative votes didn't tip them off, I am not sure what would. What a waste.

It's probably wrong... but... I think I have an addiction. My name is Scott.

Hey, at least that's one way to save money.

    Show off your desktop!

How are you liking the Hyperdesk suite? I'm not that impressed that the themes only work with Windows Vista, but at least it can help spice up XP. I'm not that tempted to "deck out" my Windows, but I might give it a try at some point. I know WindowsBlind's used to be the best for that... maybe...

    Apple Announces Revamped MacBook Family

From our front-page news: As was expected, Apple today unveiled their brand-new MacBook's, which include the MacBook, MacBook Pro and MacBook Air, and I have to say, even as a non-Mac guy, they look quite sharp. There is no $799 model available that some were hoping to see, but the original...

    OpenOffice.org 3 Released

From our front-page news: We've been waiting for a little while, but wait no more - OpenOffice.org 3 is here. The initial release is available in eight different languages and all current platforms, including Linux, Unix and Apple. Opinions are mixed, but if you are already an OOo user, there is...

    Windows 7 Becomes Windows 7

From our front-page news: Windows Vista may have been released to consumers last January, but the "Windows 7" moniker for the follow-up OS was coined long before that. Every few months since then, we'd hear more about the OS, and Microsoft is doing a great job in making sure everyone knows...
