    vista boot problem maybe?????

Ugh. You've done all the same steps I would have done, including booting to Safe Mode and also using System Restore. Did you happen to re-install the graphics driver when you were in Safe Mode (might not be possible) or when you were back in Windows when it was working properly? One idea is to...

    Dell M1330 external display

Did you happen to look at the Dell support site for Windows 7 drivers? You might also want to check Windows Update, to see if the drivers are there. I'd recommend also going straight to Intel's site and downloading the driver for the graphics, and see if that helps. It sounds like a simple...

Don't Miss Our Intel Core i7-980X Extreme Edition Review!

Exactly. I can honestly say that the cooler Intel includes here is a true tank. It's easily the most sturdy of any cooler I've ever installed.

Windows XP will Have Issues with Advanced Format HDD's

That's a great question, and one I'm not even sure on. If I had to guess, there would be issues, because at the end of the day, it's still a regular hard drive. I don't think there would be an issue with using one of these newer drives in an external enclosure, but XP might have issues dealing...

    Who really cares about eyefinity?

The 10.2 driver should help that a lot. I am guessing that the stock photo you have above was taken a while ago, when the bezel support wasn't so good. As a side note, you've gotta love how excited the girl is when all the guy is doing is driving in a straight line during a replay. Ahh...

So is the 5770 like the top selling card in the world now?

I love the HD 5770! It might be a tad slower than the HD 4870, but I appreciate the fact that it includes DirectX 11 support, and has unparalleled power efficiency and temperatures. Not to mention there's Eyefinity support for those who might want it down the road. It's a great card for the price.

    Intel DP55WG

Even an equal-priced offering from either ASUS or Gigabyte looks a lot more interesting than what Intel offers most often. In talking to the head of Intel's motherboard line at CES, I was told that there has been an increased focus on overclocking over the past launch, and that the company...

    Comet off guard

Last night, I was sitting here doing a bit of PC gaming, and out of nowhere, a comet soared through the sky and lasted about five seconds total before it completely disappeared. I'm confident it hit the earth, simply because it was so bright and "close", but I estimate it probably struck about...

    Pi day ...

Happy π day! Hard to believe that something so seemingly simple in math is so complex. Not sure I could eat that pie, though... it looks like it's bleeding!

What exactly is wrong with the March?

Haha, how does it play on a handheld like that? To celebrate Sonic 4 coming up, I ran out and bought "Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection" for the PS3, which has all of the Sonic games that came out for that console, along with a barrage of other great titles. Sweet value for $30, that's for sure.

Microsoft's Browser Choice Screen Working Well for its Competitors

That for me sums it up right there. I am not sure how any straight-thinking individual could look at that and think otherwise. You wouldn't expect to walk into a convenience store and see ads on the wall for other convenience stores people might not be aware of, and you certainly wouldn't see it...

Why Ad-Blocking Hurts the Sites You Love

Yangster, you make some pretty great points, and I agree with all of them. I like your comparison to billboards, too, that's a good one. I've tried to tell advertisers almost the same thing for a while, but none will listen. Even so, I am confident that none of our advertisements have ever been...

Is NVIDIA's GF100 Broken and Unfixable?

That's kind of worrying, especially if the rumors of hot chips prove true, because even then, the user couldn't overclock their NVIDIA card to improve things even further.

Don't Miss Our Intel Core i7-980X Extreme Edition Review!

To be honest, this is the first time when I've ever considered a $999 CPU to be "worth it". The fact is, this is the only way you can get a six-core CPU from Intel for a good while, and the performance is just stellar. Then there's the CPU cooler that comes included, which is actually very good...

    Which One?

Looks like a sweet setup! I am not sure what else I could recommend, but perhaps if you are data-hungry, you might want to try for at least a 1TB drive. I think they sell for around $100 lately. Looks great though man, that's going to be a great rig for whatever your purpose. I still love the HD...

Intel's Core i7-980X Extreme Edition - Ready for Sick Scores?

I stopped including temperatures a while ago because I ended up changing the way I measured them after this current suite was finalized. Plus on brand-new architectures like this, it's hard to even know if the temperatures being displayed are correct. Intel will never vouch for the tools that...

    Sapphire Radeon HD 5850 Toxic

Given that they don't give a single detail about how they measure temps or even push the card hard, I can almost guarantee that they use a weaker method than we do. I have never found anything more effective than OCCT, which not only makes the GPU's hotter than any other tool, but also gives us...

Don't Miss Our Intel Core i7-980X Extreme Edition Review!

It seems like we've been waiting a while for it, but wait no more! Gulftown is here, and that means six cores, "sick scores" and some incredible performance. As always, we have our in-depth review posted to the top of our front page, and we highly recommend you check it out even if you're...

Intel's Core i7-980X Extreme Edition - Ready for Sick Scores?

It's official. We're now entering the six-core realm, thanks to Intel's Gulftown. The first model, Core i7-980X, is more than capable of delivering the sick scores that our title suggests, and along with it, we can begin to see some major benefits of the 32nm process. To sweeten the deal...

    ASUS G51Vx 15" Gaming Notebook

100C+ seems a little excessive. I could believe it happening, given it's a mobile PC, but even then, that's the same reason it scares me. You could give GPU-Z a go, and see if it detects the temperatures: http://www.techpowerup.com/gpuz/ You might want to reboot before running it though, to...
