Should Tablets and Smartphones be Considered "PCs"?

A new debate's upon us! No one would argue the fact that smartphones, tablets and similar devices are "computers", but would it be appropriate to label the same devices "PCs"? With an analyst firm doing just that recently, we've decided to take a look at multiple factors to see if such a...

VMware Fusion Gains Ability to Run OS X 10.5-10.7 in a VM

If Apple allows Lion to work in a VM, it should allow at least Leopard and Snow Leopard to work in one also. Save VMware the fix and just allow it, Apple. I couldn't imagine being an Apple developer and having to deal with these stupid restrictions.

    Cities XL 2012 Review

Great review once again, Mario. I had high hopes for Cities XL 2011 when I gave it a go last year, but I just couldn't get into it. It might be that I just lack patience, or it felt too clunky from the get-go. I do know one thing though... there's a lot of eye candy to be had. The first sim...

Microsoft to Take the Pain Out of Installing Windows 8

I can think of few things that are less exciting than installing an OS, and the tedium is only increased when you have a handful of considerations to make. Did I back up my data? Do I need to repartition? Should I run the installer from within Windows or boot up with it? Should I do an upgrade...

Google Releases Flash-to-HTML5 Flash Professional Extension

With Adobe's recent decision to halt the development of its Flash mobile variant, the company essentially told the world that the future of the Web is not with Flash, but rather HTML5. While the company will continue to develop Flash on the desktop, mobile devices have to be considered. Without...

VMware Fusion Gains Ability to Run OS X 10.5-10.7 in a VM

When Apple released OS X 10.7 'Lion' this past summer, I didn't consider it to be a 'major' release as the company was touting. There was, however, a rather significant feature that I somehow completely missed: the ability to run OS X in a virtual machine. If you're a Windows or Linux user...

Nintendo to Launch $199 3DS Bundles this Week

Nintendo's 3DS handheld has been a hard sell ever since its launch, despite receiving good reviews in the beginning, and has even caused the company to lose a great deal of money. With the holiday season upon us, things have been slowly improving, but with its latest push, Nintendo is hoping...

    Cities XL 2012 Review

It's almost ironic that it would take the desire to create an MMO for the last survivor of the city-builder genre to come to life. The latest incarnation of that survivor is Cities XL 2012. It's not an MMO, but rather a traditional city-builder sim that tries to cater to old-school SimCity fans...

Google Opens its Digital Music Store; Invites Users to Discover & Share

I have 9,058 tracks in my collection which is based on about 500 CDs (I haven't counted recently), so I could see a 20,000 limit being hit rather quickly with some people. Well, the goal of the service isn't just to let you upload your entire music collection; it's goal is to allow you to...

GOG.com to Offer Newer Games Beginning in 2012

I agree. And if I can get some great games from the past three years at a better price than Steam offers, I sure won't complaint. The DRM-free likeness of these things would make the purchase all the more sweeter.

Are We Soon to See a Death of the Spec?

That's just it. I got to thinking about tablets and mobile devices last night though, and I was reminded of what things were like back in the 386/486 days where major strides were being made every year with the capabilities of our PCs. Nowadays, people buy a tablet one year that's inadequate for...
