    Fan on the south bridge

It is made to work that way and it will work great if you give it a chance. Runnng no fan or passive on that chipset is going to kill it. I do not care what other people say. The NF4 chipset gets very hot in single card and SLI makes it that much hotter. It will not last longer than a month...

    Fan on the south bridge

If you have VERY good airflow, then you could maybe passively cool the NF4 chip. Otherwise, they run hot and when overclocked, they run nuclear hot. I would not expect a long life out of it with almost all passive coolers. That Thermaltake unit is about the best since it has heatpipes and...

    The ultimate memory cooler?

The funniest part is that a simple 25CFM 80mm fan zip tied over the memory is all you would ever need for the hghest overclocks with all the voltage your motherboard can push through your memory sticks. This is what we call "cashing in" on the lazy crowd and people with more money than brains.

    Fan on the south bridge

You cannot go fanless on a NF4 chipset if you overclock at all. As for DFI's RMA policy, good luck. They are brutal and require original receipts and such. Easiest thing to do is to buy another chipset cooler. As everyone suggested, that HR05 is perfect for the job.

    Overclocking the E6300

Excellent review! It seems all the 6x0 Nvidia chipset boards have major memory overclocking issues. Same with 2T. I haven't seen many, if any, C2D systems able to run 1T on the memory with much success. If they do fix those issues with a bios revision, I just might give one a try since I am...

    Overclocking the E6300

Well, what bothers me more than anything about ASUS, is the proven fact that they only respond to problems when a big name reviewer/review site posts a bad review. They don't monitor their own support forum, and their answers to any emails for support are just generic responses. It is a budget...

    Overclocking the E6300

ASUS do make nice boards, but I waited forever for a new bios for my A8R32MVP for more HTT and never saw one. Their support is lousy, but usually they change things when the big name reviewers complain, not the actual people that buy them retail. I am just gonna do SLI with my board and some...

    Overclocking the E6300

Yes, I am very pleased with the ease of overclocking my E6300 has shown. I am running 3.22GHz 24/7 stable (460X7) @ only 1.3V Vcore. There is more left in my motherboard and CPU, just haven't taken the time or felt the need to push it much harder. I am also running water, although I have a...

    Stuff for sale

I have had to downgrade a bit lately due to my house needing work and my TV dying. Got some stuff for sale: Gigabyte GA-965P-DQ6 - $140US + shipping. One of the locking clips for a memory slot is broken, but it does not effect functionality one bit. Silverstone ST65ZF 650W SLI/Crossfire PSU...

    Your thoughts on Quad Core?

I agree. Although NCIX has been getting better lately, and if you have access to CanadaComputers, they also have cut their prices to become more competetive. Anyone outside of North America really gets nailed with really high taxes. I think they average 20%+ in most countries, besides the...

    Dual core tricks

With what you are describing, it is just very unstable and I would have to blame the memory because Core2Duo has proven to be picky with memory, and some motherboards are worse than others. Single channel shouldn't matter, just make sure it is getting the proper voltage as well. That is...

    Dual core tricks

Sounds like the ram is either not compatible with the motherboard, or he's overclocked it and runnings something too fast. Even if it is running stock, he needs to run some stability tests. I have an E6400 and have not needed ANY patches/fixes to run games normally. Even games that uses to...

    Your thoughts on Quad Core?

I think they are purely a waste of money for most of us. As you stated, dual cores are hardly pushed at the moment, never mind more. I can run 2 instances of folding @ home and play ANY game out and not notice any slowdowns or stutters. I too cannot wait until they start pushing off the...

    AMD/ATI acquisition complete

Yeah, that website caused my gag relfelx to kick right in. As a long time ATI fanboy, it saddens me to see the red leave, and it is strange that they would choose to green it up since Nvidia has always been the green team of the video world. I just hope they don't completely drop the ATI name...

    microATX and SFF

In all honesty, you're best bet is to wait a few months for some more boards to come out. THe MATX market is slim pickings right now. If that ASUS b oard has what you need and you can't wait, then it is only logical to go with it. If you're not doing much OCing, then any board that has the...

    microATX and SFF

lol, the whole point of MATX boards is to cram onboard video onto it for a HTPC. You'll be very hard pressed to find one that doesn't have it. Besides, the MATX boards will also not allow the same levels of OCIng that a full size board will.
