Alright, second time around PC build

umm...ok this cooler is a freaking beast. I have less than 1/8 inch of room left between the cooler and the sidepanel. Good news is, I used to idle at 42C, now I'm idling at 24C - 26C. :D

Sapphire Radeon HD 6970 BFBC2 Vietnam Edition

That's also the same reason why they didn't bench Metro 2033 in DX11 :p

Sapphire Radeon HD 6970 BFBC2 Vietnam Edition

because if Rob had put AA on, the framerates would be so bad it would make the game unplayable at max res for Metro 2033. He probably wanted each res test to be consistent with the last (detail-wise). And as for SCII, I don't know. lol.

    AMD Radeon HD 6950 1GB

Well, someone in the clan I'm involved with had a comment about this. He looked at the specs in your test system, and it's ultra high-end. He thinks that most games can't utilize 2GB of VRAM, and combine that with how much RAM you have (I think 8GB), he thinks the GPU might be the bottleneck in...

    AMD Radeon HD 6950 1GB

or it could be that the 2GB has more memory sectors to render, and it makes it slightly slower.

    AMD Radeon HD 6950 1GB

hmm...wow. That's really odd. That reminds me I need to get 11.1a. Don't have the hotfix yet. I read it gives a ~40% fps boost in Metro 2033

    AMD Radeon HD 6950 1GB

what the heck is up with that?? the 1GB version beats the 2GB?? Maybe you should try re-benching the 2GB 6950 with the new 11.1 catalyst to see if the results change? That makes no sense to me...

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Linked to Russian Airport Bombing

The problem here is not the games, it's the idiots who can't differentiate between a game and reality and try to bridge the two, resulting in "madmen" created from games. I blame mentally unstable people, not the games.

AMD Catalyst 11.1 and 11.1a Hotfix

DUDE. Metro 2033 28% increase?? HECK YEAH

AMD Catalyst 11.1 and 11.1a Hotfix

You had fps issues in Black Ops?? I run it maxed out no prob at 70 fps (vsync). Turn vsync off and it would go up to 120.

The State of GPU Acceleration in Firefox for Linux

ok, so I just downloaded the beta 10 and fired it up. DANG the difference is phenomenal as compared to 3.6. Pages load nearly INSTANTLY and it looks so much like Chrome (BIG plus because I LOVE Chrome's look). And I can tell it uses GPU acceleration...due to the fact that when I have it open...

AMD Catalyst 11.1 and 11.1a Hotfix

I just uninstall the one I don't want, then install the next one. I had MAJOR issues with 10.12..it cut my fps more than in HALF. I would get 30 fps in a game I would normally get 70-100 in. 11.1 works perfect for me, and all I did was download it, uninstall 10.11 then install 11.1 and it works...

Puget Systems' SPCR Edition PC Idles at a Near-Silent 11dBA

That's why eunoia said performance gaming systems get louder under GPU load. When I go ingame, I REALLY hear my 6870 fan ramp up. I'm guessing the SPCR edition PC has lower-end quieter GPU's in it, which wouldn't be very good for a gamer looking for extreme performance, but would be perfect for...
