    Vista Success! 40-Million Sold!

Point well taken. I just enjoy playing devil's advocate with MacMan. I personally haven't even touched a machine with Vista on it, much less installed it on my own rig - mainly due to the articles that MacMan is talking about. Maybe if I'd installed Vista, I'd be more bitter toward M$, but as...

    Vista Success! 40-Million Sold!

I agree with you on this one. However, I'm a PC gamer, and as such I will probably move to Vista once the good DX10 games start hitting the shelves. Most of the negative articles I've read about Vista use product drivers as the cornerstone of their argument - which is a legitimate complaint...

    Your thoughts on Quad Core?

As of 7/22/07, my new official thoughts on quad core will be, as Gary Larson once put it: "YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE-HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!"

Intel Quad Core Price cuts for 7/22/07

Many will be interested in the Q6600, priced at $266 (per thousand). A sub-$300 Quad Core 2 is going to be a tough hurdle. Even if Barcelona is faster, the history of AMD and pricing doesn't get me thinking of sunshine and lollipops. I hope, for the sake of consumers, that AMD makes it. Link...

    Thermaltake Armor Case, plastic pieces

Without seeing a picture I can only guess that they might be there to help you route cables.

    eVGA whips XFX in court

I wouldn't be surprised if that lettering was put there by some sneaky dumb-ass and no one else picked up on it before it went to print. There simply isn't any conceivable benefit to having that in your artwork - not only is it too vague to be easily noticed, but it has no apparent meaning...

    SilverStone PSU Muffler

I doubt that a case is going to effect noise nearly as much as a loud PSU. I would suggest selling your current PSU and buying a quiet one before dropping more money on a case. Selling a case is harder than selling a PSU, usually.

    SilverStone PSU Muffler

I'd also suggest checking out silentpcreview.com. I understand where you're coming from - even my PC Power & Cooling 'Silencer' 750 sounds like a hair dryer under load. From recent memory, the quiet PSU's I'd suggest would be the Corsair HX series (either 520W or 620W) which have been reviewed...

    Microsoft Reclusa Gaming Keyboard

Thanks to Rob and Microsoft for getting me the hardware and thanks to Rob again for posting the review. If I overlooked something, let me know, people!

School District Fires Network Manager... For Deploying Linux

I thought that my post said exactly that - you argued something that the reported news does not (yet) back up, therefore it is only your opinion. I was not saying you did a bad job of reporting the story, only that your opinions seem to ignore one side. Nothing wrong with that on a message...

    Those BASTARDS!

I didn't say pro-open source/anti-Microsoft was bad. I agree with you for the most part. The only reason I posted is because you seem to be over-estimating the effect the Microsoft could have on the open-source community, and you also seem to be a little over-excited about whether or not M$...

    Those BASTARDS!

Two things I learned about MacMan today: 1. He is pro-Open Source / Anti-Microsoft. 2. He has no problem with making one-sided posts with inflationary language. Not that I think Microsoft executives aren't a bunch of greedy bastards, but I think you're blowing Mr. Hilf's comments a little out...

School District Fires Network Manager... For Deploying Linux

I'll go ahead and provide some links. Story about switching to Linux. Story about firing Network Administrator. MacMan, after reading these articles, I didn't get the impression that Curtis Mason was let go simply because he wanted to migrate to Linux. From his own words, it sounds like he...

    Razer Pro Solutions Pro|Click v1.6 and Pro|Type

While I may tend to agree with you here, this particular keyboard is targeted at 'professionals', not 'gamers'. 'Gamers' should be buying the Tarantula, which has a 'battle-dock' connector which up until now is even more useless than an Ipod connector, because no battle-dock accessories...

    Razer Pro Solutions Pro|Click v1.6 and Pro|Type

I didn't quite catch the 'driver issues' negative on the Pro|Type - all I caught was that the shuffle button didn't do what it was supposed to - was there something else? Also, do you know of any way to save Pro|Type profiles on your PC, rather than relying on the boards memory? 5 profiles...

    Yeah, so Xclio.....

Cute, but it will take more than comical Sumo-video cards to challenge the Toughpower(s), and the X3. Has Jonny reviewed it?

    Selecting a Power Supply

I'm with you, man. 100%. You probably saw this one coming a mile away - it's sad how we get taken in by the same marketing promises, hoping that maybe some new technique will actually make the PSU quieter - and then reality strikes. Then your perfect hindsight kicks in: "A silent 80mm fan...

    Mushkin 4GB XP2-8500

Holy Crap! $700! While I can certainly appreciate a 2x2gb kit that performs like this, I'd sooner spend $450 on 4x1gb, and deal with the hassle of mounting a 120mm fan over them. $250 could buy a LOT of fan.

    64 bit windows and Gaming?

I'll add that I never personally noticed any improvements in games going from 32bit to 64bit. But I also didn't notice any degradations. I'll see if I can't update my 32bit drivers and do a coupla' benches.

    64 bit windows and Gaming?

I've been running XP Pro 64 for the last ~10 months or so exclusively. I started out dual-booting w/ 32bit in case there were any problems, but for the last 10 months or so I've had no reason to use 32bit. Even iTunes is 64bit now. I've used nVidia and ATI cards, and play everything from the...
