Move Over Firefox, I Choose Chrome

I too switched to Chrome (and Chromium on my work desktop) last week... I did it because Firefox just was too slow in starting up. I had loading times up to 45 seconds, which is just TOO much... Firefox became a victim of its own succes... It went from a "good and stable" browser to a bloat...

37% of the Web is porn

Only 37%? If you consider that porn is 99.9% images and movies, I am surprised it is so little...

    SSD Linux reviews

You can check with hdparm IIRC... And it will just work. If you understand how the Linux FS works (With the VFS) it wouldn't make sense not to work everywhere...

10 Things Linux Does Better Than Windows

I totally agree that Linux should promote its strengths a lot more, but then they just attract the trolls that start comparisons to Windows, and they mostly have 2 arguments; Support for latest GFX (blame the HW manufacturers) and Gaming (blame the game devs)... Hardly a fair contest/comparison...

10 Things Linux Does Better Than Windows

That surely is why it had the first USB2 and 3 support, including the fastes USB stack... While I agree that it supports a lot of deprecated hardware, it also supports way more new hardware. The best example is amd64... Ever wondered why it isn't supported? Not because they don't want it...

10 Things Linux Does Better Than Windows

You can't be more wrong... Linux supports much more hardware then any other OS out there. However, graphic cards manufacturers refuse to release up to date drivers for Linux. Also, if this is so much of an issue for you, vote with your wallet! Don't buy hardware from manufacturers that don't...

10 Things Linux Does Better Than Windows

I think you are mixing up GNU and Linux, and even still, not all OSS software is free... So there is piracy on "Linux" too...

What do I need for 1Gbit Ethernet?

That is because cheap Realtek and Marvel NICs offload to the CPU, while Intels don't. But do not expect them to perform like real TCP offloading NICs (which cost A LOT, but you don't need them). We have quad NIC cards (1 card, 4 ports) TCP offloading cards in the labs at work, and they cost...

What do I need for 1Gbit Ethernet?

You don't need jumbo frames for Gbps... All you need is a decent NIC ( I recommend Intel ones! ), a gigabit switch and decent (cat 5e) cables.

Is "Unlimited" Internet Ever Truly Unlimited?

Being involved (work wise) in provider networks and mainly PE routing, I can say there is no such thing as unlimited... You'd be amazed how much providers have to pay to transfer 1GB over 1mbps towards the core network... And how restricted parts of the core network are (mainly links between...

Firefox Might Not Ever Hit a 25% Market Share

Well, Firefox is digging its own grave IMHO... Taking over 50MB of RAM (1 tab!) and a startup time of 30 seconds is just too greedy, for just a browser... Not to mention the awful javascript engine... I for one am waiting for some specific "extensions" of Firefox to hit Chrome, and then I'll...

    Is this motherboard shot?

If you would read the OP, it isn't his computer ;) So there goes your argument... No, I just can't stand people offering "advice" that is as wrong as saying that the earth is flat... If you can prove me wrong, feel free to do so (with proof), but giving arguments like "I am a techie for 30...

    Is this motherboard shot?

Ah, the ground system, you mean all those black wires running back to the PSU? Because if that wouldn't be the ground system, how does it all work when the PSU isn't in the case? Ever felt 1picoFarad at 220V? Ever measured how much static can build on stuff? In excess of 1kV with ease... Ever...

    Is this motherboard shot?

Yeah, being a Master of Science in Electromechanical engineering, I would love to... Any idea how much idiots I met on fora? I don't mind about the name of the var, I do mind if you totally misuse the representation. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ohm%27s_law P=U*I (which ISN'T Ohms law...

    Is this motherboard shot?

And what about paint, that every case has? Your calculation is way off, and makes no sense at all... CPUs use 1.5Vish, but the motherboard only recieves 3.3, 5 and 12V, the stabilisation and lowering of the voltage is done on the motherboards (by the FETs), no case needed for that... The reason...
