    raspberry pi anyone?

Nice work. That program is compiled on a PC or the RPi? What is the compiler?

    raspberry pi anyone?

hahaha ... sweet ... impressive effort. You have an electrostatic personality. Or, possibly more likely, the circuit is influenced by your body capacitance.

    raspberry pi anyone?

Are you a C++ programmer? When I wrote code I never quite got into Linux, but am considering a re-visit. There is so much to pull together tho ... gcc or gnu cpp ... ugh, a little over whelming. I think I understand that code is uploaded to RPi from a PC? I found it very easy to write device...

    raspberry pi anyone?

Nice work Thar, I have been thinking about numerous applications for this widget. Do you have particular "plans" or are you mostly into the moment at the moment & noodling it all out?

NVIDIA Fills Up Kepler Line Even Further with GeForce GTX 650 Ti

I have not taken the time to keep up with NVIDIA's Kepler line. But from chatting with my number-crunch buddies, these things look to be significantly faster than Fermi ... maybe 3X faster! Fermi is at least 9X faster than my overclocked i7-990X. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tesla_GPU ... I...

Integrated Graphics a Thing of the... Future..?

Rain & I are mostly in the same camp. I use GPGPUs extensively but even then the host CPU has to be top notch. Not all time consuming processes are worthy of pushing thru a massive about of processors even with Nvidia giving the CUDA library away for free. Another way of saying this is that...

Under the hood of a M2090

Assuming that is degree C, that is pretty hot but I have run my i7-920 like that for days. It was in the system for a couple of years. There is an old thread here where Rob suggested i go with that initially then upgrade later. Later was finally this morning. I now have a i7-990X as the...

Under the hood of a M2090

The Zalman VF1000 keeps the M2090 ... uh ... working ok. As discussed there is no way to know the GPU temp like there is with the C2070. I have compared the speed of the M2090 to the C2070 (overclocked I think) & the M2090 is faster. Almost twice as fast. But, the M2090 is in a faster system...

    Patently Backwards

This is all about market share, growing market share, and keeping market share. And, very possibly, survival. As we all know the news of the past few years, nothing is too big to fail. As a self employed consultant, I can assure you that going after business can never be half assed. You have...

    Patently Backwards

Brett's diatribe will require more study than what I have given it as yet. I will read again later. It had me wondering which way it might conclude until the very end. There are hints but it wasn't really clear until the very end that he feels that this is ruling is harmful for innovation...

Under the hood of a M2090

Finding fans can be more more challenging than it should be. I check newegg (which has a great return policy) and have filtered all other WC sites down to mostly Performance PCs. There is always jab-tech & frozencpu which come up. Performance PCs has always shipped the same day. Also, the...

Under the hood of a M2090

Nice atyp. My experience with the C2070 is that it just locks up when it gets too warm. I managed to do that a few times when I was setting the OC settings.:o I have never managed to control the fan speeds on the 2 systems I have with CPU watercooled. My systems are push/pull fans on the...

Under the hood of a M2090

haha ... so the "air guy" went water & the water guy (moi) is probably going to go air! I had a lot of work over the weekend & made no progress other than a dry fit. I like the setup you describe. Nice job.

Under the hood of a M2090

Not all models fit in the 6 GB of the Tesla. Even then the software has substantial pre-/post-processing with some single threaded & some multi- and not CUDA. So a fast host CPU is needed.

Under the hood of a M2090

No clue about that jack. Wild guessing, if Nvidia monitors temp like Intel, then the sensing is on chip but still requires a device nearby as the interface. I think that may be missing on this board. But, I have never plugged one of my M2090s in as I just have not had the time. I have had a...

Under the hood of a M2090

Checking it over a little more, the alternative is to drill out the 4 inside hole on the back plate. This will allow the thumb screws they provide to capture the "nipples" as they call them that screw into the the air cooler's heat plate. The thumb screws will hold the pressure plate of the...

Under the hood of a M2090

The Zalman VF1000 arrived. It looks like it will be a fit with minimal modification to the OEM top side heat spreader. Yes, I think things fit well with the OEM heat spreader.:D But don't pull out that CC yet. Holding it all together will be interesting to figure out. There are plenty of...
