    Gigabyte EX58-UD4P

The Intel X25-E. They explain it best here: Link It only really matters for high-end SSD users. However, that doesn't change USB 3.0 also arrives at the same time, and there is a huge difference between 35MB/s and 400MB/s or whatever the actual number was... Please give this a read from that...

Globalfoundries to begin taking 32nm orders in late 2009

That's how AMD's fabs operated in the past, only one ever was brought up to the "latest" process node and the other was upgraded as the older generation products got phased out. AMD's, or I should say GlobalFoundries' New York fab was supposed to be built with 32nm 300mm tech. If they keep to...

Are Macs Really More Expensive than PCs?

Okay, I'll bite on this one! As far as I'm concerned Apple uses off the shelf PC hardware, they just package it more nicely and use a different OS. Ignoring accessories, what at the hardware-level has Apple modified? Rory, that's been out for a long while and isn't an Apple exclusive. Dell...

    Gigabyte EX58-UD4P

I have been considering this very board. I refuse to "invest" in a $300 board when it will become horribly obsolete when SATA 6gb/s and USB 3.0 launch next year, but I still want a board without most of the corners cut. My question is, what are the primary differences between the UD4P and...

Globalfoundries to begin taking 32nm orders in late 2009

Even if they beat TSMC to 32nm mass production, TSMC is going to be quick to follow and has a much larger fab capacity. Was pretty sure only one of the AMD/Global fabs will be 32nm at first, at least for most of 2010?

Want to save cash? Carry around $100 bills!

Um, perhaps it works because most stores refuse to break $100 bills unless you're spending most of it? ;)

Seagate Unveils BlackArmor 440 - Great Design, Huge Storage

That's very true... If they are targeting this as a business solution (You're right, they probably are) then they've probably ensured it isn't going to fail after a year of use. It didn't help their first firmware "fix" had a bug in it that bricked perfectly good drives. That Seagate paid...

    New Build

Only 25GB? Thought it was at least 50GB, but if they are only 25GB then it's just a waste of money. It won't be much longer before flash drives are cheaper than DVD media in cost per GB.

Seagate Unveils BlackArmor 440 - Great Design, Huge Storage

How about because Seagate is STILL selling FreeAgent external drives, and I don't believe they have fixed the problems with them? Intel is doing fine because they stopped selling Netburst. Have Seagate's FreeAgent drives suddenly become reliable? If a company continues to insist on forcing...

Seagate Unveils BlackArmor 440 - Great Design, Huge Storage

That's a good point. Their FreeAgent drives are the worst excuses of a drive that I have ever seen. What's worse, the drives were good... it was the cheap hardware they used with them that was causing most of the problems. I wonder how "cheap" the hardware in this is. :D

FTC to require real testimonials for advertisements

I wasn't addressing anything about damage potential. I was simply stating all financial banks had a choice when making those mortgages, and the larger ones had a choice in buying those bundled packages. They did so out of greed despite common sense, and have paid for it. In a way you are proving...

Seagate Unveils BlackArmor 440 - Great Design, Huge Storage

Sounds a bit steep, but considering most NAS devices ship WITHOUT drives, its actually not a rip off. Pricewise and feature wise I still recommend QNAP's products all the way though.

Rather good new that makes me rather sad....

To me, that sounds like renting a computer, except worse. Why would I pay any kind of monthly fee just to use their service and play their game, when I can save more by building a computer up front and running it locally? Even if you rented a computer, eventually you get to keep the computer...

FTC to require real testimonials for advertisements

Let me phrase it this way... if everyone with a third grade education did ignore those blatently misleading advertisements, then they would have stopped doing them. They only continue to make more because people are buying and they are making money from them. That's all completely true. But...

Obama administration supports RIAA's ludicrous fines

I was just starting to like the guy. It's to bad he had to employ these people.... I'm all for protecting ourselves and each other, but releasing customer data without a subpeona simply based on the suspicion of file-sharing? Yet we can't persecute known muderers or rapists or violent...

Intel to Drop Prices in April, Introduce New i7 Models in May

There is one Asian site that reported on the upcoming 950 and 975 processors something like two months ago, almost no one picked up on it. So far their article has been spot on correct... and they mentioned the 940 would be phased out instead of getting a price drop. I can't find the site...
