What Caused So Many People to Stick to Firefox 2.x?

Opera does the same things, if I type words into the address bar all of my bookmarks that match the word are shown below... I've grown to like the feature though. :) JMke over at Madshrimps still uses Firefox 2.x, his reason was because it just loads and performs faster than the 3.x version...

OCZ Releases Industry's Most Affordable SLC-based SSD

It will be interesting, even this drive is only advertised with 100MB/s sustained writes... "sustained" being the key word here. Even Indilinx MLC drives are advertised to be capable of 100MB/s sustained writes, so it really sounds like a controller bottleneck. Then again I don't recall seeing...

8-Bit: The Story as Told by Lego

2Tired2Tango, yeah that sounds about right. I was just saying they just did the same principle here and put all the sequences together. "Legomation", I guess :)

    Gigabyte Radeon HD 4770 512MB

This is how they NVIDIA / ATI work, they always release midrange GPU's on new fab processes first before they begin to commit the largest GPU's they make. The next round of GPUs from ATI and NVIDIA should really make for some fun, that's for sure. :D But it's great to see ATI so focused on...

    Zotac GeForce GTX 285 & GTX 295

You'd see a nice gain in performance, but at that resolution its going to be like going from 100 frames to 200 frames... I'd suggest just sticking to one card unless there is a particular game you can't play maxed out on just one.

8-Bit: The Story as Told by Lego

They did some video retouching such as the greyscale scenes (I think) but, otherwise that was pretty much all blocks... just like when TV shows were made with clay sculptures that had to be shot, molded, shot, recast, etc. This was very well done. :)

Gigabyte Open Overclocking Championship 2009 Taipei Final

Can't believe they froze a motherboard + GPU inside the ice sculptures... :D With all that frozen CO2 & LN2 evaporating off they must've had a ton of air flow piped into that room... ;)

    Now here's a headline...

That's just wrong on so many levels, yet BS like that just seems to be everywhere... It's worse than just scarring that child, beyond potentialy ruining the rest of her life the physical issues of a pregnancy and birth at that young an age are going to give her serious health problems and health...

Intel Core i7 - Choosing the Best Memory Kit

Just a few last words, make sure to update your BIOS before installing 12GB of RAM, earlier BIOS's did have some problems with that much memory. And if you are going to use 12GB, make sure you use the same RAM to avoid any problems... since you bought Kingston, make sure all of the 12GB is...

Digsby Takes Bloatware to an Entirely New Level

Digsby isn't just another IM program. It's a centralized server that requires additional costs, overhead, and lots of bandwidth to operate daily. I can install Digsby onto any PC and instantly my contact list, settings, and preferences are transferred to the new installation. Every time...

Netscape Founder Backs New Web Browser, "RockMelt"

It'll be interesting to see where this one goes... the only thing I'll mention is that rebuilding a browser "from the ground up" repeatedly as a means to update it sounds like a sure-fire way to break compatibility, not to mention a good deal of additional overhead.

    Most reliable SSD?

Hi Clegane, If you have already ruled out OCZ then this makes the selection process pretty easy. The only two SSD controllers I would recommend (for performance) would be Intel's controller and Indilinx controller SSD's at the present time. For the best reliability, I would only recommend...

Intel Core i7 - Choosing the Best Memory Kit

The memory will run at whatever settings you want to run it at. For example if it's rated for 1333MHz then you can run it at 1333MHz with a Core i7, most motherboards allow user selectable memory multipliers to adjust the memory frequency to the CPU speed. I'd recommend going for whatever...

    Intel's "Skulltrail 2" to Feature 16 Cores?

That's what the Mac Pro does, they stuck half the motherboard onto a daughter card that mounts horizontally into the chassis, so both Quadcore Xeons are oriented with the coolers facing the vertical. Whomever designs a Skulltrail 2 board would probably stick to a 2D layout though, servers can...

    ASRock, Asus and Nvidia.

Well, even Atom with an older model AMD IGP, which while much better than Intel's IGP still couldn't handle heavy video offloading. There seems to be a big difference between having a single core and one of those more uncommon dualcore Atoms.

    Building an Affordable "Skulltrail" System

I would sugget you look for a 750VA rated backUPS unit or greater if all you want is a couple minutes of computer power in order to complete BIOS flashes or have time to shut down the system. Depending on your computer you might prefer something in the 950VA range.

Poor Passwords a Larger Threat than Malware?

Even a few simple tips like not using names or any word found in a dictionary will go a long ways for securing those financial passwords. Dictionary style brute-force methods are commonplace and are pretty simple to use. I keep mine simple and easy to remember just by throwing together some...

Digsby Takes Bloatware to an Entirely New Level

Is it honestly that hard to uncheck a single box before clicking continue? I don't know about them, but I'd rather decline six toolbars/bloatware screens than have to tolerate ads in my IM client. If they know of a better way for Digsby to pay the bills then perhaps they should tell the devs...
