    The Benefits of Multi-Display Gaming

I don't think projector tech is there yet! Colors wouldn't match, brightness levels would be off, and there would be fuzziness where the two images overlapped given there isn't a sharp delineation between one image and the next. My Uni used projectors in all the rooms, often two per room...

Could Universal Notebook Power Adapters be in Our Future?

As long as the charger is capable of powering the laptop, sure! I was approached for doing a universal laptop charger review four years ago, but I had to decline given my Pentium M laptop would have exceeded the 100W limit on the charger. :D For most non-performance/DTR notebooks though, a...

Report: NVIDIA Throttles PhysX Performance on the CPU

Brett, if I may jump in here as I think you misunderstood the issue itself. The core issue is NVIDIA defaults to x87 code when a PhysX capable GPU is not present. So this has nothing to do with the GPU, and everything to do with the PhysX code being designed to use the least efficient CPU...

    Water cooling help

There is around a 5C difference in the NH-D14's favor between it and the Megahalems, but if you can find the Megahalems for that price it's a great alternative. As b1lk1 has tested the Thermaltake Frio, it is a good equivalent cooler to the Megahalems that you may be able to find even cheaper...

    Thoughts on this HTPC build.

Killem was looking for Mini-ITX boards that had an IGP built in. Those are unfortunately sorely lacking with AMD's offerings right now.

PayPal to Soon Allow Payments Without an Account

Unless they are secretly deducting fees on the transferred balance, Paypal doesn't charge fees to transfer money to (or from) a bank account. Paypal charges fees on payments received though, which I do find to be excessive. Paypal automatically uses funds in your Paypal account first, before...

    fan testing!!!!

Those fans at Newark are all industrial units, which means they are going to be as loud as possible. Or at least the 140mm ones they have will be. ;) Most watercooling websites have 140mm fans, even Newegg has some. The trick is many feature round housings, which won't provide a square seal...

    Water cooling help

What CPU cooler are you currently using? As I've had to answer quite a few questions similar to your own as of late, I am confident in saying you will not find a watercooling setup for <$200 that would outperform the Noctua NH-14, which costs under $100. ;)

Has Dell's Lustre Been Permanently Lost?

Yes, stories like this are exactly why people have issues with large corporations. Dell certainly was not the only company to suffer from the bad caps fiasco, but how they reacted to it says it all. A friend of mine's Dell PC had to be replaced due to bad caps around the GPU slot from that exact...

Intel Set to Launch New CPU Models this Summer, Including Six-Core i7-970

Definitely a bit of a silly price given can buy a retail, sealed 980X for less on ebay... even below $800 if you bide your time and use Bing cashback. The Core i7 950 for the same price as the 930 is a nice improvement though, although it was long past due.

    Thoughts on this HTPC build.

Hope y'all enjoy the new HTPC! Newegg's been running coupon codes / sales all this week & weekend, has been a great time to get something you've been planning on purchasing. :)

Crazy vid, looks fairly decent. That vid makes it seem like a non-ending bonus round, though!

Move Over Firefox, I Choose Chrome

Hm. Good luck with the changeover! I wanted to ditch Opera given their 10.50 series of builds broke a great deal of functionality (and introduced some serious bugs) for no apparent reason. That forced myself and a great many other users to stick with 10.10 which suffered from zero HTML5...

Do You Like Tabs on Top or Bottom?

Actually, I put my tabs on the far left and stacked vertically. It's more convenient and uses my 1920x1200 widescreen display much more efficiently so I scroll the windows much much less often when web browsing. Not to mention scrolling tabs is a thing of the past. I only found one Firefox...

    Thoughts on this HTPC build.

I understand the change of CPU brings down the entire platform cost and affects most of te other components in your new build, but I do suggest looking at ANY other GPU than the G41. This is simply the worst GPU to use for image quality, and if HD video will be used it will become an issue. If...

Will the Removal of PCI in Intel's Upcoming Chipsets Affect You?

Wouldn't affect me, I made a point to pay an extra $10 for a PCI-e version Xonar card... hell it's past time for top-end boards to do away with the PCI bus. Budget, business, and other markets can keep it, but many enthusiasts would prefer to have it gone and given Intel makes chipsets...

    Thinking about getting this

Hate to break it to ya, but the source engine / Orange box games do not use Phsyx. That's a cheap price for the card, but don't forget to consider it will use power and probably add a bit of noise inside your case. That should be one hell of an upgrade if you currently use a single-core PC...

    Thinking about getting this

Congrats on the Scholarship! Looks like a sweet build. If you hadn't yet, I don't recommend getting a card for physx. The GTX 470's can run Phsyx as well as your games simultaneously. Not to mention few games really even use it. Still is a nice price for one though if you don't mind the rebate.

Sun VirtualBox - Free, Powerful Virtualization

Unregistered, yes if you view their page they are running it inside VB. All you need is the .iso file, which is the image file of a DVD. Any linux iso can be used to install Linux in a virtual machine, just point VB to the iso file. As long as you configure it so the virtual machine is...
