    P55 Motherboard Suggestions

Hmm, yeah actually P67, not P68 like I said. :D I guess I have a bit too much wishful thinking for X68 and Sandy Bridge E. Maybe that is because of certain starships that also have an E on the end, I dunno. Ya could spring for some RAM, then give her your current PC if she needed some...

    ASUS at CES 2011

It will be interesting to see how those stack up against the iPad, slate, and others! It's not just the devices, but what they have access to that makes or breaks 'em! Can't believe they squeezed a Core i5 into that Slate though... that's gotta be one expensive low voltage chip.

Nintendo Warns of 3DS Use for Children Under 6

Oh I got it... but I still think the BP logo would go better for some reason. :p

    Hard Drive eSata

Hey Yangster. Each of those controllers you listed is a different SATA controller on your motherboard. You would need to refer to your motherboard manual to see which controllers belong to which ports (and which one handles the eSATA port). I apologize as I should have mentioned this up...

    White Box - Black Sun

Slick! Rare to see white used, which makes it all the more eye-catching. I like the fans and white PSU housing... must have white powder-coated everything too. :)

    ARCTIC making remote control cars?!

Reminds me of Abit, they branched out into some rather elaborate PC audio equipment before they later folded. Usually a company diversifies into unrelated markets only if they are having unbridled success and are looking for more for a quick buck... or if they are having financial issues and...

My seagate freeagent can´t be found by the computer.

Once the platters on a hard drive are exposed the platters are compromised. The longer they are exposed the higher the chances nothing will be recoverable. Specs of dust and airborn particles too tiny to even see with the naked eye are enough to prevent a seeker head from being able to read bits...

That photo gives entirely new meaning to swapping out the hard disk, or putting two together in RAID. :D

    P55 Motherboard Suggestions

Tharic-Nar sounds spot-on with that 97% number. PCIe 2.0 has enough bandwidth that 4x won't be an appreciable handicap... it will knock a few percentage points off performance but that's it. I do agree with Rob though... it will cost you a new CPU, but if you are buying a new board already...

What's UEFI, and Should You Care?

Man, the boost times with UEFI are just impressive! I would kill to have a UEFI ASUS board with an overclocked 2500K, because I'd pair it with any Sandforce SSD just to test how fast it would boot with an appropriately configured Bios. I bet it won't be very long before it is possible to see...

    I tripped over some money!

Hey Optix, any news here? I've been out of the forums for a bit, but just let me know here if you're still looking/deciding on anything as I'm happy to help. :)

Duke Nukem Forever to be Released on May 31, 2011?

Seriously? I've tried four people with Borderlands, but the lag/latency issues were just too much. I couldn't snipe anything with any degree of reliability, and in some intense firefights someone would begin to lag and cause lag spikes for the entire group. International friend games are just...

    Seagate FreeAgent GoFlex Desk 3TB

Most PC's can access the drive okay except for Windows XP. The main issue is if the drive is used as an OS boot drive. Vista 64bit and Windows 7 64bit won't have an issue with a 3TB drive, but 32bit OS's will. The whole thing is a mess to keep track of! The drive should work fine in another...

Should Retailers Stop Selling Games that Require Steam?

Supreme Commander II also required Steam to play... for different reasons. The game disc shipped to stores only had ~2GB of content on it, users had to install steam and download another ~2GB of content. SCII shipped before the game was completed, and as a consequence they resorted to using...

What Should the Default Action of Hitting a Power Button Be?

Haha, sorry Rob! Sounds like a typical feline trying to be helpful though... or maybe it was mad at you for not paying it enough attention. ;) That had to be my single-largets peeve with the HAF 932 case. The top mounted power button was incredibly easy for anything to press and just pressing...

    Microsoft Security Essentials 2.0 Released

Thanks for the heads up! This one slipped by me... apparently my copy of MSE already updated itself to 2.0 as well. I had been running a preliminary test build with the network inspection package already included. I haven't really noticed anything different with the network inspection...

    Just bought Borderlands GOTY

As far as I know it's just a multiplayer versus setup, sort of like the arena mode in the original game but with extra levels or weapons I thought. I've not actually played it. Ahh, good to know. I played Borderlands ages ago, second playthrough was even more fun than the first honestly...
