    Frustrating networking issues

First things first. Grats on the working account ;-) I hope you'll stick around, and feel compelled to rant about your own problems. Maybe I'll actually be able to return the favor at some point. Second, I thought this fixed the issue, but I've been having the same one today, even though the...

    Frustrating networking issues

Whoa, I hadn't considered that. The reason I didn't experience that issue in the previous config is that even though the ISP router was 192.168.2.1, it didn't matter to my PC because it was connected to a router with 192.168.1.1. So it just worked. ROFL. Big Louis CK fan here ;-) Here's...

    Frustrating networking issues

Hi MeBe: Apologies for it taking so long to approve your post; I didn't see it sitting there. I promoted your account so you won't have a delay like that again. I hate to have these measures in place but we get a LOT of spam posted here each day that no one ever sees as a result. "Is the IP...

It's a problem when a startup has more lawyers than employees

I found this article from TechDirt rather eye-opening: http://www.techdirt.com/articles/20130501/09000922908/when-startups-need-more-lawyers-than-employees.shtml "The developer's story is familiar. Once a startup crosses a certain threshold of success, the licensing demands start pouring...

    Frustrating networking issues

I'll test out that Workgroup theory later today. Regarding the other idea, is this what you are talking about? I've fiddled with that and so many other things, and am always left in the same situation. If my router was a switch or a bridge I wouldn't have this problem. I really wish...

    Frustrating networking issues

I'm dealing with a networking problem that's driving me the right amount of nuts to persuade me to make this post. I moved at the start of the month, and my ISP is unable to install net here until the 14th (yes, that's ridiculous). So, I've been borrowing a neighbor's wireless connection...

How long do your USB devices last?

I have a hard time disagreeing. Though I have a hard time thinking it's USB when it could just be shit controllers.

How long do your USB devices last?

So, here's a pet peeve of mine: USB devices that just up and decide to stop working in a particular port. WD's MyPassport 2TB, for example. It's a USB 3.0 device, and no longer works when plugged into the USB 3.0 port on my PC. It doesn't work in a second PC's USB 3.0 port. It works just...

A motherboard that slows the boot down over time?

"I reflashed the BIOS, and even tried using the second BIOS." :P I think I'm just SoL. I hate to say it, but GIGABYTE boards have been giving me a real hassle lately on test benches.

A motherboard that slows the boot down over time?

Well, after I wrote that, I realized it'd be for naught. It's not just the Windows boot time that's been prolonged, but the POST as well =/

A motherboard that slows the boot down over time?

Hi all: The test platform we use for hard drive testing utilizes GIGABYTE's G1. Assassin 2 (X79) motherboard, and recently, it's developed a problem there it takes longer to boot than before. Because we do boot-time tests for our HDD content, this is obviously a problem. As of our last HDD...

H20 Memory, so few options and mostly bad...

I tend to agree. Even fast RAM doesn't get that hot. The WCing setup for RAM would cost twice what the RAM itself would cost. To have a "complete" system, I think it's cool, but it's definitely expensive for no real gain (that I can see).
