Bang The Box! (Mini-ITX Build Log)

Hah - I love seeing all of the parts laid out on the floor like that before the build takes place. For many years, I've just been upgrading one or two things at a time (I almost never build a PC from absolute scratch), and I so I never see scenes like that. That issue with the GPU power...

Half-Life 2 - Who is still playing this timeless classic?

I know I've told this story a hundred times, but after Episode 2 came out, I had planned to go through HL2 and both of its episodes again right before EP3 came out. Joke's on me... So that said, I haven't gone through the game in many years, but I do plan to soon. I couldn't agree more with it...

    Chromebooks - yea or nay?

I need performance, even if I'm just doing simple things. That being the case, Chromebooks are far from being made for me.

    Origin Does Panicky About-Face

Feel free to post the build here :D You'll love 1440p. I moved to it not long ago and wish I did sooner. I'd still prefer a 3x1 setup, but I only have room for one of those, and that's for the benchmarking rig. I think more than just the resolution, I love a big 27" monitor. It's not much...

    when a pump fails ...

I'm glad there's no damage to the hardware, but still, what a pain in the ass thing to happen. I caught a glimpse at your forum sig and it brought on a surge of memories of when we were talking about that motherboard, and that CPU. That board is X58 and now X99 is due out later this year...

    when a pump fails ...

That'd be interesting to find out. It's kind of sad that the best tubing was purchased from a company that no longer exists...

    when a pump fails ...

That's just because I am the first to notice. Given the forums are so, ahem, dead, even I'm slow sometimes. I gotta put in more of a real effort. Sometimes I post things too that don't get responses! Soon enough I will likely merge a bunch of sub-forums together, so that it doesn't look quite so...

    Origin Does Panicky About-Face

Nice catch! I actually shared that a couple of hours ago to our social networks. How's things going, eunoia?

    when a pump fails ...

I'm not a water-cooling guru, but 10+ years on a pump seems -amazing-. Years ago I had a Thermaltake AIO setup in my mom's PC, and the pump died after two years. That was before the market was inundated with AIO kits though, I am sure the situation is better. I've been using a Corsair AIO for...

    Keyboard Quandary

Ahh good, you're addicted. You might enjoy this sub-Reddit, then: http://www.reddit.com/r/mechanicalkeyboards I use red, and it's not that much louder than standard keyboards. If it is to you, you can just add some dampeners which will put it in line with membrane boards. As for...

One Year Later: Logitech Performance Mouse MX

You know a mouse is great when you feel compelled to buy the same thing again even though newer stuff is out. Glad it's lasted you so long man. That's longer than most mice I use. I am only on a year-and-a-half of my current mouse, haha.

    Beer Thread!

I got two for the evening. Only had the Rodenbach so far. It's a sour... didn't realize that. It's good for a sour, but not for me.

Asus Sabertooth 990FX R2.0 boots twice....

Now that you've figured out the issue, I feel like kind of an idiot. I should have thought of it being a PSU issue! Either way, glad you finally got to the bottom of it. Hopefully it'll be smooth-sailing from here-on-out.

Haha. Yes, I couldn't imagine that going down too well.

Modified a laptop to hold my Nexus 5.

I appreciate the help, but at this point I can't be bothered with fiddling with the forums too much. I'd almost like to move off of vBulletin at some point, because its current options don't interest me, and I think it'd just be better to go with an open-source solution, like phpBB (especially...

Modified a laptop to hold my Nexus 5.

You're right, it was a plugin causing it. This plugin was used to resize images that are larger than the allowed width, so as to not break the forum template. Now, with that issue fixed, the images click correct, but those that are resized can't be. Edit: Oh, and shared on Facebook, et al.

Modified a laptop to hold my Nexus 5.

Psst, those thumbnails don't click through to the larger version! That is priceless, haha. You're fortunate enough to own one that's not too thick (I think I'd have to force this Moto G + Otterbox). How reliable has the tethering been so far, with the phone shoved into the underbelly...

Asus Sabertooth 990FX R2.0 boots twice....

Failed how? It sounds like it didn't want to boot into Ubuntu because the GRUB bootloader is stored on the W7 SSD. But if that's the case, this confuses me even more: You've done a CMOS reset, but have you updated to the latest EFI? Even if the EFI you have -is- the latest, I'd re-flash it...

    bitcoin, Nvidia gpgpus, & ebay

Yup, that's a great point. So in reality, it's pretty easy to begin accepting Bitcoin, and at this point, you'd almost wonder why an etailer wouldn't - especially those that use PayPal, given the etailer has to incur an additional fee with that. Of course, the number of people using Bitcoin...
