The MARS dual-GTX 285 card that ASUS was showing off at Computex is produced in a limited quantity (1,000), so we already knew that the price was going to be high. But now that it's available for "pre-order" at SCAN, we can see it's actually going to be sold for a lot more than anyone probably thought... £1,030.98, or close to $1,700 USD. This even makes Intel's Extreme Edition processors seem like a steal!
I really don't see what the big deal is about this card, so perhaps someone can tell me what I'm missing. Yes, ASUS showed off Far Cry 2 running in Quad-HD, but what's stopping two regular GTX 285's in SLI from accomplishing that? Is it just the 4GB of GDDR that's making the difference?
Either way, it's a cool-looking card, but with a price like this, I'd be surprised to see all 1,000 picked up.
