Raiding a grave to sell it as new?

When I saw the headline, "Cemetery whistle-blower: 'I ain't a hero'", I wasn't about to ignore it. As it turns out, the story isn't quite as interesting as I expected it could have been, but it's certainly a bit sick. It appears that some employees of a cemetery in Chicago were planning to dig out graves in order to re-sell them. This kind of strikes me... just how common is this kind of ridiculous act? Anyone ever hear of something like this being a problem before?

Sometimes I can't get over just how screwed up some people are. In this case, it was FOUR people, not just one!

The only thing "sicker" than the act is quite possibly the penalty for it.

Some states have quite the laws against it, and If i recall, there are some serious federal implications too, especially depending upon what you do with the body.

Well, that should be the case. It's not your place to go dig up bodies for your own gain. I couldn't imagine needing or wanting money so bad that I'd ever consider something so bizarre.

Rob, this was headline news for days two weeks ago... unfortunately it sounds like you haven't heard most of the story. You might start at http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/31835021/

It had been going on for over a year I think it was said. There are plenty of other sites with much more coverage and details than MSNBC. The more you read the worse it gets, the manager even ran a fake donation scheme for an Emmett Till memorial, which she pocketed the money from. Also the neglected remains of Emmett Till's original casket was found, the body had been exhumed in 2005 or 2006 for an investigation and apparently they just let the casket rot in a back shed on the property.

Whoa... that's just insane. What the hell is wrong with people?!

as i live in the chicago area, i'm pretty up to date with it, they just start to investigate a new cemetery for the same thing as the other one, and the count they think could be as high as 100 graves re sold now

Well, we had this kind of incident in our village where ppl dug out graves but well, only to use em in Black Magic and Voodoo stuff!
As for selling organs, a couple of low lvl hospital doctors were sent to prison for taking out the kidneys of ppl while they were supposed to be operating their heart or lung etc! U go under the knife to get ur heart fixed and come out with one kidney less without even knowing!
