There is a new DocuPen model added to PLANon's ever-growing lineup. The RC800 is a full color document scanner that can store up to one hundred pages on it's internal memory. If you have the need for a portable scanner, you won't want to miss this one.

Not so impressed

I am a graduate student who purchased the product for use in the library on documents that may not be removed. I find the quality of the scans on books and bound academic journals to be so poor that it is virtually impossible to convert to text usinc OCR. I have done hundreds of scans and though the quality on documents that can lie flat has improved, books are still a big problem. I also find the transfer of image files from the pen to computer to be very slow. The main problem for me though, is the poor quality of the images scanned from books. I would not recommend this product for anybody who needs to capture information from bound documents, especially thick volumes and paperback or glue-bound books with a deeply curved spine.
