Rugged thumb drives are nothing new, but they are from the folks at OCZ. They recently released their ATV and ATV Turbo drives, ranging from 2GB - 16GB, and have huge promises strapped to them. We put one of each through a battery of "real-world" tests as well as our normal performance testing.

You can read Will's full review here and discuss it here!

The One, The Only...
test suggestion.

Take it from a 130+ degree setting for 30+ min, to an ~ 20 degree setting within seconds of each other for 10 min...

And then just the opposite.

Im willing to bet the extreme temp change yields something.

Also, testing it to ~120 degree temps or higher for over a few hours is relevant to my interests.

The washing machine test

A very nice test that you may add to your future reviews, is one that accidentally happened to my USB-flash drive: a full program in a washing machine!
The USB-flash drive (Freecom) came out unharmed with all the data on it.

It is quite realistic that this test will happen to a USB-flash drive: many people carry it in their pocket, and some will forget it while throwing your clothes in the laundry.

The washing machine test

Note: this washing machine test was performed without cap!

Ahh, why didn't we think of that. I guess being submerged for a few hours and then being ruthlessly run over my a car is almost the same thing though.
