OCZ Announces RevoDrive X2 PCI Express SSD

OCZ must of thought the original RevoDrive was too slow, because just a few months later it's announced the RevoDrive X2! The original PCIe based SSD came about as a result of hitting limitations with the SATA II interface. SSD technology was developing faster than the interface could keep up, so by removing SATA and going straight through the PCIe interface, the only bottleneck would be the SSD controller. As powerful as the SandForce controller was, it wasn't enough, so OCZ bolted two together in a RAID 0, made it bootable, and the RevoDrive was born.

I want one too, but no instant boot... boot time is largely limited by latency now (and POST), but if you want to boot up and load all your applications at the same time... sure, this'll help.

Just need to replace the controllers with the new SandForce 2000 models... 4x SF2000 controllers, 500MB/s each at 60k IOPS.... geekasim...
